  1. Merkley says he won't support Rahm Emanuel's ambassador nomination [Click] Ditto Ed Markey. Certainly Emanuel doesn’t have a history of being diplomatic.

    1. Was in in 1991 that Chicago elected its first Black Mayor, Harold Washington? In 2019 it elected its first Black woman mayor, Lori Lightfoot. She won an unprecedented run-off against another Black woman, Toni Preckwinkle, who remain head of the Cook County Board. Lightfoot is also Chicago's first openly gay mayor.\

  3. The factions are losing clout. Terry McAuliffe was a faction protegee. The voters replaced him.
    Still the press insists on the candidate being in charge of his/her own hiring meme.
    'Tis a scary prospect having voters do their own thing. The story in Buffalo is that the party chose a challenger and the citizens elected a write-in.
