Ohhhh myyyyy! Vermont hit a new daily Covid case high today of 487 cases!! Previous record was 330 cases on September 15th. I called the Governor's office (again), begging (again) for a mask mandate. I told the nice woman who answered the phone that I went into a store today and the employee there told me I didn't have to be wearing a mask!! This is beyond ridiculous.
Yes, that's scary. Cases in Illinois, with 20X the population, jumped up to over 4200 today after being in the 1700s yeaterday. I think the numbers posted in the Tribune represent erratic reporting, especially since the numbers for Sunday and Monday are always zero.
In September, when Vermont hit 330 cases, there was some speculation that it was related to a counting error. This time they made it clear that the high number had been confirmed. Definitely Hallowe'en related. But don't worry, there are colder temps and lots more holidays coming. 😵💫
Sounds like it might affect the use of the US dollar as a reserve currency. Does that mean the world is heading for a future with no reserve currency, or a multiplicity of them? Interesting. It looks like the future is not good for autos and trucks using internal combustion engines--and that future is coming far more rapidly than anticipated. I doubt that we will ever purchase another auto; but if we should, I think it could well be a BYD electric.
This morning, for the second time, we had a flock (upwards of thirty) unfamiliar birds resembling a type of dove in our back yard. Consulting our bird book, we discovered that they are mourning doves. The sort of doves familiar to us here are colored differently, and do not flock; I will have to keep an eye out for them and make note of their plumage.
Mourning Doves are common here, and known to be a preferred meal of hawks, both because they make a sizable meal and because they are a little slow in the reaction department. One might step outside for a moment and all the birds at the feeders will scatter...except the Mourning Doves who seem to have difficulty making the decision to flee. It always takes them a second or two longer than the others to recognise that they need to vamoose. When they do, you can hear their wings blasting off. It's kind of hilarious.
Republicans: Christmas 2021 is already ruined! And it’s the Democrats’ fault! [Click] Strange--I hadn't noticed that. Santa Claus already dropped off a new pair of boots for me, and is bringing a very promising book.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention a new heater; and if I'm a reasonably good boy I might even get a nice new wool robe.
DeleteYeah, we’ve already bought gifts for all the grands and can make the rest. I guess Republicans don’t know about planning ahead.

DeleteI suppose the store employee is not required to have the brains God gave a goose.
DeleteCoronavirus
DeleteAs of Thurs. 11/04, Fresno County:
Deceased: 2166 (7-day average 0.36/100K)
Currently hospitalized: 302
I don't trust the figures for total cases, because I am sure many cases go undetected and unreported.

DeletePetrodollar System Breaking Down [Click] Rather deep for me, but interesting.

DeleteGoodbye Devin … hello Kevin? New House boundaries could get weird for Fresno, Valley [Click] Gee, could it be that we get to be represented by an incumbent Democrat (albeit a blue dog)? Don’t know if I could endure such a shock.
