That is an astonishingly fine picture, listener. It should be submitted somewhere so it can win a Best in Show prize!!! ( I won one once for a collage, and even though the money was not big, it was a thrill!)
Amazon warehouse workers could get second vote on forming union [Click] “National Labor Relations Board official finds company’s anti-union tactics tainted election.” It’s a hard call whether to call off an election in advance because of illegal management tactics or after it takes place and look like sore losers. When I was on an organizing committee we cancelled the election, and the NLRB ultimately decided management misbehavior had been so egregious that a fair election was impossible and ordered them to negotiate a contract without an election (this during a Republican administration). What we went through I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
The one thing we feared, they refrained from: physical violence. We learned a lot about our co-workers; one was an agent of management, some could be fooled, some could be intimidated, some could be bought. But for those of us who kept our word, the farther we stuck our necks out, the more protection we received. Ultimately the new management (which brought on all the problems that led to the organizing drive) destroyed the company (whether through incompetence or by design I do not know--either is credible), but we managed to hold them off long enough that many coworkers were able to find alternate employment before that happened.
The laws violated by Cuomo apparently do not have any penalties attached. That said, I would argue that bullying and harrassment are SOP for many males and when the victims are female, they're likely in egalitarian mode. Males bully. That this behavior is counter-productive has not sufficiently registered.
Fact is the U.S. never recovered from the 2008 crash, in which $14 Trillion in value was lost, for the simple reason that Congress and Wall Street conspired to ration the currency. Why? To support the illusion that money is wealth.
We have got, IMHO, a national problem in that illness and disease generate attention and sympathy for people who generally feel ignored. So, getting sick with something that only kills 2% of the patients is not as onerous as one might think--sepecially now that people have discovered that the costs of hospiralization are covered by the feds. We are looking at a population that is OK with 40,000 vehicular mortalities every year. How many are maimed for life is not even tallied. And, by the way, despite the reduction in miles driven during the pandemic, the fatalities have not decreased. Less traffic just lets people drive more recklessly. Do they have a death wish?
