Temperature just above freezing here this morning; I can hear the wind machines in the citrus groves across the river--first time this year. I expect there might be just a touch of frost on the coldest spots, but it's still a little too dark to see.
In the low spots it comes a number of times every year--citrus orchards can be planted in those places, but must have wind machines to protect them. It used to be that the citrus orchards were only planted in slightly elevated places, where the cold air could drain away. I remember one frost which killed that year's shoots on the grape vines; that was about 45 years ago. The vines survived, but there were not enough grapes to bother harvesting.

For a rail fan, there is a certain attraction to Emanuel as SOT: He is a Chicagoan and Chicago is the nation's rail hub. With Amtrak Joe in the White House, that could solidify things.
RE is obnoxious, but reportedly has some good marks in infrastructure work, and in the DOT might be far enough out of the spotlight. But I sure would feel for the people tasked with working for him.
