The smoke is heavier this morning. Just now (0740 hrs) the sun is just barely and not completely visible--fainter than yesterday. It is darker and cooler than yesterday. I see that there are big fires in SW Oregon; Medford (population 83,000, metro area 217,000) has been ordered to evacuate.
This is a hotbed of Republican voters; when gerrymandering was more pronounced, the contortions that were made to join it up with remote GOP-voting areas were very remarkable. As near as I could make out from the online voting data, I was probably the only person in the precinct to vote for Gloria la Riva for President four years ago, astounding as that may be [grin].
We just saw something odd; a single adult turkey vulture perched on top of a wooden power pole behind the next door neighbors' house. Normally they soar, in groups. We wonder if it might be a refugee from the mountains. Which reminds me, I haven't heard if the condors from the condor sanctuary that was burnt have been seen; but they can fly for great distances.
OHIO: As of Wednesday afternoon, there have been at least 132,965 confirmed or probable cases in the state, 4,324 deaths, and 14,083 hospitalizations, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
Talking to Woodward Was Kushner’s Idea September 9, 2020 By Taegan Goddard
White House officials warned President Trump that talking to Bob Woodward was a bad idea, CNN reports.
But Trump went forward with the hours of interviews anyway. A source, who has direct knowledge of discussions, said Trump and Jared Kushner thought Woodward interviews were a good idea.
Kushner is “quoted extensively” in the book, the Washington Post reports. =============================== I should think that ought to qualify Jared for a job as third assistant rat catcher at the US Consulate in Khartoum, including airfare to Cairo and subsequent bus fare to his final destination. But I'd think a lot of things.

Every single time trump has relied on Kushner's advice things have turned out badly. He never learns.
