As a practical matter, it seems to me that Stars & Stripes contributes to military order. Shutting it down would increase the susceptibility of troops to rumor and psychological warfare.
The Pentagon has so much money they can't even keep track of it! This has nothing to do with cost-cutting. It is simply that the Stars and Strips is NOT a propaganda vehicle for Cheetolini.
I didn't see anything about Facebook. But as for the ads, I'm not so sure. Although news reports of what the candidates are saying may have more influence than the ads themselves.
I remember a Senate Democratic primary here in the early part of the century. There was an overwhelming favorite; so much so that the Republicans didn't bother to put forward a viable candidate.
