Taking our morning walk just now I noticed that the last Devin Nunes yard sign on our street has disappeared. AND the "Your choice, Trump or Socialism" sign in the front yard directly across the street from our house (the only one ever on the block) has disappeared. The wire and plastic stand is still there, and it was windy last night so the sign might have been blown down. But I wonder if Trump's attempt to eliminate subsidies (ACK! SOCIALISM!) for military medical care might have caused him to lose our neighbor's support. (He's an ex-Marine and a pretty good fellow.) I will send a follow-up report in time.
In addition to former Gov. John Kasich, three more Republicans will speak at the Democratic convention tonight: former NJ Gov. Christine Todd Whitman, former California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman and former US Rep. (NY) Susan Molinari.
OHIO: As of Monday afternoon, there have been at least 109,062 confirmed or probable cases in the state, 3,832 deaths, and 12,319 hospitalizations, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
It sounds like Trump's plan to interfere with the delivery of ballots is doomed--and may well result in even more Democratic votes than there would have been.
Kid left this morning around 19. Stayed an extra night due to the still flooded bridge. Lovely long talk at dinner last night. After he left, me and Beau went back to bed.
OK, I’m going to watch the Dino de Laurentiis version of Flash Gordon [Click] I have a copy; Hans Zarkhov was my hero—really had an influence on my desire —which I fulfilled— to become a scientist. Maybe I should make it a double feature with Ellie Arroway? Not enough time tonight. Gotta vacuum the pool some, and that has to be after 7PM because of the heat.
Oh, that's cute!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteI was moved to check the final Democratic presidential primary results for California and Vermont; here they are (rounded to the nearest percent):
ReplyDeleteSanders VT 51%, CA 36%
Biden VT 22%, CA 28%
Warren VT 13%, CA 13%
Bloomberg VT 9%, CA 12%
Fairly close.
I’m proud of VT sticking by Bernie.

ReplyDeleteHe put up a brand new Devin Nunes sign while we were shopping.

ReplyDeleteI wonder how much time they will get compared to the sixty seconds for AOC. This is going to figure into my calculations about whom to vote for.
DeleteBernie is to speak tonight too, I understand.
DeleteKeynote tonight is Michelle Obama!!

Amazing--they kept fixing up 25 cars, only trashed five?
DeleteWatching the Democratic Convention ...
ReplyDeleteGee, and they were doing so well. Suddenly, a prayer that leaves out Progressives, Green Party, Jews, Muslims, atheists... Strange..
Generally speaking, I like this Convention format better than the traditional!
DeleteAnd here I thought it was a political convention, not a church service. Goes to show what I know.
DeleteIt’s been tradition to begin with a prayer. I have no issue with that. But it should have been interfaith and non-denominational.
DeleteAllow me to suggest that any such thing is by its nature limited.
DeleteBernie did GREAT!!!!
ReplyDeleteMichelle Obama was good too.
They saved the best two for last.
