We are breaking records like crazy here in Vermont. We have had 5 (Tuesday will make 6) days in a row over 90ºF, which is a new record. Lake Champlain is currently 77ºF. That is the warmest it has ever been in the month of June. What's more, the hottest it has ever gotten is 78ºF...and we have two more months with which to warm it further. Heh. This is really bad. It has also been dry and the Lake level is low. So we expect a lot of algae blooms this Summer. Plus a possible drought. I so do not like global warming!!
Things are so localized. Chicago hasn't been unusually warm (current temp 75F, but that's one of our cooler days). And lots of rain this year, too. Lake Michigan is near record highs.
The weatherperson says it is over 100 deg. F in Fresno, and on the way back from shopping it was 93-97; but that's all normal for here. Our street is a bit cooler, and our back yard more so (north side of the house, cooled by wind blowing across the river bottom).
OHIO: As of Tuesday afternoon, there have been at least 46,127 confirmed or probable cases in the state, 2,735 deaths, and 7,379 hospitalizations, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
European Union May Bar Americans as It Reopens Borders [Click] I thought I could take my vacation in Monaco, it not being a member of the EU—but it takes part in EU border controls. Phooey. I suppose that Saint Pierre et Miquelon is also out.
The early WaPo report (vide up one post) indicated that things were going pretty well--that one polling place is huge, and early + mail voting was record breaking.

DeleteVermont was doing SO well. Then we had an outbreak. It's mostly contained but it sure messed up the numbers. I hope it helps to shake people up such that they stop getting complacent. I do NOT want to see people out without masks!

That's the way I feel too. And what is it with people who war a mask only over their mouths?
DeleteI know, right?
DeleteMy visceral reaction is that they have neglected to cover their private parts!
From The Chicken Channel [Click] The chickens will go back to their carrier or stroller when told to do so, and will come when called by name.
ReplyDeleteI need to get the kitties to take note. They won't do anything like that. Won't even come when called for supper!
DeleteOn the evidence of that one case, it would seem that chickens, like dogs, have owners rather than staff members.

ReplyDeleteHere’s a recent article about the dynamics of the Kentucky Democratic Senate competition. [Click] It seems McGrath remained silent when she should have spoken.
DeleteIn Louisville, a city of 600,000 residents, one polling place will be open for Kentucky’s primary election. This could help Brolier, whose support reportedly leans rural. And after the discussion here, wouldn't it be ironic if he won?

DeleteI can't access WaPo. It tells me I am browsing in private, but SeaMonkey has no idea what that might mean.
