  1. With 50% of Nevada precincts reporting:
    Bernie 46.6%, Biden 1.2%, Buttigieg 15.4%, Warren 10.3%, Steyer 4.5%
Biden, Buttigieg and Warren all together add up to 44.9%.

    Politico headline:
Sanders eviscerates the conventional wisdom about why he can't win [Click] “In Nevada, he exposed his main rivals as weak, divided, and grasping at increasingly tenuous arguments about their viability.”

It’s worth a read for the factoids, but bear in mind it is politico.com.

    1. Woops--that should read "Biden 19.2%"

    2. Yes, Alan, I don't care for Politico either but, ooh, what a lovely chart!

  2. As of Sunday morning the number of Nevada precincts tallied remains at 50%. I hope they announce further results during the day.

  3. AHA! The Guardian [Click] has more up to date figures:

With 60.5% of Nevada precincts reporting:

    Bernie 46.0%, Biden 19.5%, Buttigieg 15.3%, Warren 10.1%, Klobuchar 4.8%, and Steyer 4.0%

Biden, Buttigieg and Warren all together add up to 44.9%.

I am struck by how stable the reported results have been.

    1. It looks like the news media are no longer updating their results.

    2. Of course not. Their core narrative being that Sanders cannot and must not win, continuing proof rolling in of his doing just that must be irritating, to put it mildly.

    1. There has been no recent polling in Arizona.

    2. The toast isn't ready yet, but the toaster is getting hot. Klobuchar and, alas, Warren are barely viable, even granting how many votes are yet to come. Butigieg didn't get as big a bump from Iowa and New Hampshire as he had hoped -- as his campaign strategy demanded. And Biden really, really needs that South Carolina firewall.

    4. I'm getting a bit annoyed at Buttigieg's assertions that Bernie isn't the right person to be the nominee. He isn't the right person to say that, given his obvious conflict of interest. And anyhow, We the People will be the judge of that! Somewhere I read that the best response to Buttigieg's view is to point out that Bernie keeps winning. LOL!

  5. Who is Richard Wolffe and why does he hate Bernie?

    1. Susan, you misunderstood. He doesn't hate Bernie. He's saying with Nevada, Bernie pulls away from the pack. In fact, he seems a touch irrationally exuberant, suggesting Bernie's got it all sown up right now. He does make the point that though not impossible, a come-from-behind win for any of the other "major" candidates seems unlikely at this point.

I must emphasize, "at this point". We've only had three state contests so far and, as we all know only too well, Dems are past masters at snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory. So while I'm basking in the glow of this indisputable victory, I remain only guardedly optimistic about the primary road before us. Remember, the MSM has a huge vested interest in stopping Bernie. There apparently is a very serious "Anyone but Bernie" movement. So while I know Bernie can and will be our nominee and the next president, I won't rest easy till he and Jane move into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

  6. It's time to buy a new wheelchair. I'm seriously considering this one, which has a number of attractive features. Not least of these is the weight, only twenty-eight pounds. This is an important consideration since Dad is no spring chicken and Sis is, frankly, a weakling. Also of great importance, it's made in the USA, though I don't know if it's union made.

    1. I hardly know a thing about wheelchairs, Cat. But there is a local manufacturer: Quickie. They are well known for their (evidently lightweight) wheelchairs with the wheels angled in toward the rider; very quick and maneuverable. I gather that they were very innovative when they were introduced quite some time ago.

    2. I'm used to seeing people in electric mobility scooters or maybe electric wheelchairs. But lightweight they aren't, so I gather they wouldn't fit your situation.

    Bernie 47.1%, Biden 20.9%, Buttigieg 13.6%, Warren 9.7%, Steyer 4.6%, and Klobuchar 3.9%.

Biden, Buttigieg and Warren all together add up to 44.2%.

    1. And it suddenly looks like Buttigieg isn't going to make the 15% cutoff. Gland you were able to find that, Alan. Thanks

  8. From my inbox:

We Won Nevada! Now The Hard Part Starts.

    Dear Cat,

Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) helped spark the Bernie Sanders-inspired political revolution. We founded PDA in 2004 because we were concerned that fundamental progressive values—Medicare For All, stopping Global Warming, ending wars and occupations, economic and social justice—were lost behind the neoliberalism and neoconservatism holding sway in both major parties.

We launched our Run Bernie Run Campaign in 2014 and successfully “drafted” Bernie to run. It’s appropriate that Bernie’s smashing victory in Nevada came yesterday on February 22nd—the anniversary of George Washington’s birth.

Like our first president, our next president warns against partisanship supplanting the public interest, and condemns foreign adventurism because it endangers the public good. Many things have changed since the days of George Washington, but bedrock ideals and principles remain.

Bernie won the most votes in Iowa and New Hampshire, and he overwhelmingly won in Nevada. That’s amazing and we should all be proud of our activism that helped make that happen. Now, the road becomes much tougher. When you challenge a multi-trillion dollar system with nearly all the levers of power at its disposal, you must anticipate ferocious attacks. They’re already coming for us.

Pete Buttigieg actually accused PDA of being a “dark money group!” It gets worse. Chris Matthews, the longest-standing MSNBC host, literally compared our movement for justice to Nazi Germany attacking France, and claimed we’ll “execute” him for being a millionaire.

Meet The Press host Chuck Todd called us “brown shirts,” and an unending parade of cable news pundits demonize us every hour of every day. We must ready ourselves to survive this all-out onslaught against our movement.

PDA is free to speak up and speak out when disingenuous pundits and corporate media hacks attack, because we don’t accept money from corporations or other regressive entities.

    [To be continued]

    1. Like PDA, Bernie Sanders has an established record of standing up to the big-money interests who have far too much control over our economic and political lives. Bernie is bringing forth common sense solutions to our common challenges, winning the Democratic Primaries, and changing our politics for the better.

Bernie has a deep understanding of the systemic problems we face. We agree with him when he says, “Most people have given up on the political process. They understand the political deck is stacked against them. They think there is no particular reason for them to come out and vote—and they don’t.”

Our job is to help bring together a massive grassroots populist / progressive coalition that can win elections and transform our political and economic systems so they work for everyone—not just the oligarchs.

With your generous support, PDA will not only maintain our efforts; we will step up our activism on your behalf during this most critically important election cycle.
