  1. ‘The World Is Laughing at President Trump’ [Click] “Joe Biden released a devastating video just minutes after President Trump returned from the NATO summit in London.” It looks pretty effective; yet another example of how Twitter can serve as a faster, cheaper venue than television for campaign commercials.

  3. UCB-IGS Poll: Warren and Biden lose ground, Sanders moves ahead in California’s shifting 2020 Democratic race [Click] This is the best California poll these days; a worthy successor to the Field Poll.

Democratic delegate rules, 2020 - Ballotpedia
Delegates are allocated proportionally based on the outcome of each state's primary contest. A candidate is typically only eligible to receive a share of the pledged delegates at stake if they win at least 15 percent of votes cast in a primary or caucus. That standard is referred to as the 15 percent threshold.
Warren and Sanders are currently the only candidates who meet that standard in California.

  4. Alan, re The Starless Sea: Perhaps I should warn you that the main storyline is a love story, in case that makes a difference. Come to think of it, several of the storylines are love stories.Even the person we come to think of as the villain does what she does because of love.

And, did I mention? There are cats, and books...lots and lots and *lots* of books!

    1. Love is OK; but I looked at the reviews and it seems a little too far out for my tastes.

    2. Cats and books are OK too. But the book seems to call for more suspension of belief than suits me.

    3. Maybe, but all the strands come together at the end, at which point it makes sense. Donno. I just wanted to share the experience with someone, and you seemed a likely candidate. If you're not interested, that's okay. Not every book is to every reader's taste.

    4. Before leaving the subject, I'll add something that just occurred to me - I'm somewhat slow. It's a mystery to be solved and a puzzle to be put together, or several.

  5. John Kerry has endorsed Biden. The fact that Kerry named John Edwards as his running mate tells me all I need to know about his judgement.

    1. Not I, but I am not the least bit surprised. I dare say that she has considerable crystallized memory of how to handle such things.

The list of scandals McKinsey has been involved in is impressive. [Click] Now that it has been brought up by the NYT, I suppose it is time for his competitors to start to focus on it.
