Garden Path as we leave August

  1. Analysis of Sanders and/vs Warren [Click] Not bad for the popular press, IMO. It’s a long time to Iowa, let alone Super Tuesday, let alone the Democratic nominating convention. But it looks to me like we have two attractive candidates. I haven’t any idea who would be the running mate, but am confident that s/he would be a good choice. I see no reason to readjust my contributions to Bernie and Warren.

  2. Alan, though it hadn't occurred to me in just those terms, you are right that Trump is incompetent to stand trial. At the same time, trial in the Senate need not necessarily follow from indictment by the House. After all, the possibility of indictment was enough for Nixon. Of course, though deeply troubled, Nixon was both a very intelligent man and a skilled politician. Trump is, er, neither. Still, I've felt since the moment Trump took the oath of office that impeachment was in order. I think the Rep who wrote to Bill makes a logical and strong case, even if it seems a little late to be jumping on the bandwagon.

  3. Indeed, the incompetence has been obvious. However, if only to restrain those who have been enabling, charges have to be formally compiled and presented to the public.

  4. I have preserved on Hanna Blog the transcript of the January 11, 2017 newsconference where the future was pretty well laid out by Donald John. He does not comprehend. However, getting rid of the permanent bureaucracy which frustrates doing favors for cronies has been a long time ambition on Capitol Hill. That is what “draining the swamp” means in D.C. and accounts for why Congress has been complacent. It is the last chance for the old guard whom formerly reliable voters have abandoned. In a sense it is the Unjust Steward syndrome. Stewards or agents are difficult to deal with because one has entrusted one’s assets to them. In addition to the parable of the Unjust Stewarrd, there is the story of the landowner who was informed the tenants were ruining the grove and when he sent his son, the tenants attacked him. So, it’s an old story.

    1. Well said. I'd add that they're more than complacent. They're complicit.

  5. Catreona, I wrote a message about your news, two threads ago but it must have disappeared as I clicked Post, because it's not there.

I am so very glad your esophagus issue can be mended with medication! Hurrah for fixable problems! They're the best sort! I hope it goes smoothly for you.

    Were the nurses nice?

  6. Just to mention that Daughter and BabyGrand got home this evening. I'm so glad for that! Everyone always rests better at home and they can just snuggle in now.

The event wasn't without complication. The cesarean went fine and the surgery was minimal, all things considered. But during recovery Daughter's BP dropped fast, she was bleeding and losing clarity. But they caught it quickly...and THAT'S why she delivered in Boston! They have some of the world's best doctors and nurses at Brigham and Women's! I am so grateful that Daughter's doctor is one of them.
