I don't know how warm it was yesterday, but when I took my constitutional at 6PM, I was wearing (among other things!) an oxford cloth shirt without an undershirt, and it was a bit too warm--I was perspiring some. Overcast this morning, but no rain in the forecast. Visibility was good yesterday, and the snow on the mountains looked very pretty. At this time of year some more snow is expected.
Predicted high temperature today: 77F! But only today. Better than a 50-50 chance of a bit of rain tonight and tomorrow. So we will get some gardening done this afternoon--mostly extirpating and eradicating weeds.
I saw the story about Ryan, but not Brazile. Not sure what to make of it. Does Fox see a better economic future in being more even-handed? I was reading somewhere recently that they are not doing well--viewership going down, particularly in the most economically active age groups, and significant, albeit so far limited, rebellion by advertisers.
Former Vice President Joe Biden reached out to at least a half-dozen supporters Tuesday to tell them he intends to run for president and to ask for their help in lining up contributions from major donors so he can quickly raise several million dollars,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
“Mr. Biden has expressed concern to these people that he wouldn’t be able to raise millions of dollars in online donations immediately the way some other Democratic candidates have.” ======================== I am reminded of Hitler's question when someone said the Pope took objection to something he was doing: "How many divisions has the Pope?" I wonder how many votes the moneybags have.
Oh, my—this from the live feed about the Christchurch shootings:
“A man accused of sharing video of a massacre in New Zealand has been jailed by a judge until his next court appearance in mid-April. Philip Arps, 44, appeared in a Christchurch court Wednesday on two charges of distributing the killer’s livestream video of last week’s attack on Al Noor mosque, a violation of the country’s objectionable publications law. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison. [emphasis added] Arps, heavily tattooed and dressed in a T-shirt and sweatpants, hasn’t entered a plea. He remained expressionless during the hearing, his hands clasped behind his back. Judge Stephen O’Driscoll denied him bail. Charging documents accuse Arps of distributing the video on Saturday, one day after the massacre. Arps owns a Christchurch business that had company vans emblazoned with neo-Nazi references.”
In another note, the Christchurch Hospital got word of the shootings shortly before shift change, so roughly by the time the ambulances began to arrive they were double-staffed. Like what happened at the trauma center where I used to work after the monstrous series of crashes on the nearby interstate during a dust storm back in 1991.
And lest we forget, the freezing and flooding in the upper Midwest is a huge disaster for farmers and ranchers. I haven’t heard anything about a US government response, but under Trump I don’t expect competent action.
Wow! This woman is a neighbour, her mom is an intensive care nurse, and my daughter used to do childcare for the family.

Just saw on CNN: Donna Brazile is newly employed at Fox News and Paul Ryan is joining the Board at Fox.
ReplyDeleteI think Fox is rewarding Donna for doing her best to put trump in the White House.
