Don't have time to read it -- my last writing assignment has just heated up -- but from what I see wealth inequality is becoming even more of a problem in China than in the US. And in the long term, China is looking at a population crash.
The Communist Party may be losing its legitimacy, and the local cadres are afraid to do anything, so they don't fix anything. As for population (not mentioned in the article), the size of the People's Liberation Army has been decreased for lack of people of military age--something that limits the naval build-up as well.
Thanks. So it's pundit's opinion of why _they_ think would be the strongest candidates. Which, among other things, accounts for the inclusion of non-candidates in the ranking.
I have been staring at a particular doll-making book day after day. Yup, there it is. Yup, there it is again. Now I need it. Okay, it's not there. Where is it? I know I saw it. How could I see it repeatedly and now not see it at all?
