Susan! How much snow did you have that melted? With it currently RAINING in VERMONT (!), the woman with a yardful of snow longs to know.
Bill, walking when it's icy is so difficult. I'm glad you made it there and back again okay. Not exactly uneventful, but safe all the same. Welcome back.
Catreona, I'm with you! I'd like ALL the parties to drop the Primary system anyway. But does anybody think Bernie would actually run as an Independent? I doubt it. But I sure wish he would.
Please keep us posted on your river's rising, puddle!! Could be some flooding up here too. (But not at my house.)
Only about 8" of actual snow, but it also melted the hard-packed ice that the plows left behind. It snowed again overnight, but only a coating. At least that's what I hope it is and I don't get another surprise when I step out.
Alan, the link you posted about why Joe Biden shouldn't run for President made some good points. Dang, I hadn't remembered that he'd be 78 when he took office. I think he is a decent, honest person and, while I don't agree with him on anything, at least I'd know he discerned (rather than tweeted from the hip!). I still want Bernie, though I think there are some of the same concerns...and yet he's MUCH more interesting to young people than Biden, as Bernie proved in the last election. Is there a middle aged hero?
Aha! A freudian slip, no doubt! [grin] Not unlike me unintentionally (unconsciously?) typing Hillary "Clingon." Yours might be blamed on automatic spell check, but not mine...
Clinton becomes Clingon with a mere misplaced digit, since the g is just below the t. I'm not sure it could be called a Freudian slip, as the typewriter wasn't invented until Siggy was 22 years old. Think he learned to type?
Wikipedia: "A Freudian slip, also called parapraxis, is an error in speech, memory, or physical action that occurs due to the interference of an unconscious subdued wish or internal train of thought."
Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution says the President "shall from time to time give the Congress information of the state of the union and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient."
Every President from Thomas Jefferson through William Howard Taft reported the state of the union to Congress in writing. If it was good enough for them, it is certainly good enough for Trump—and for every President hereafter, IMO. A speech is not required, and e-mail would obviously be satisfactory.
Someone made the point that DT is caught between two women stronger than himself—Ann Coulter and Speaker Pelosi.
Sounds like there’s a real chance that Cohen won’t be testifying in public. Bummer. Wil was going to take the day off and we were going to make snacks and watch.
Currently 20F here, heading to a low of 6F overnight and a high of 8F tomorrow. After gradually warming to 23F Sunday it will plunge again, with below-zero highs mid-week.
Meanwhile, Adelaide Australia recorded an all-time record high of 119F.
But that would make him number TWO, after Nixon! Now, can we think of ways he could depart from his office that no one has ever before used, so he could go out as NUMBER ONE? Well, yes.
There are also Democrats getting desperate for a shutdown deal. Some are even willing to give Trump $5.7 billion for border security -- *provided* it is used for things that will actually increase border security rather than a make-work wall.

DeleteAh. Like the old days with the Watergate committee hearings. Where's Senator Sam Ervin when you need him? :)
DeleteOops! Left a comment for Alan on the last thread. It's nothing much though.
ReplyDeleteIt was duly noted, Cat, and I agree.
DeleteRain's done. Snow's gone. River's over the bridge, but receding. All's well with the world.

This country will be so much better for trump's absence. Eager for that day.

Wow!! New slogan:
Somebody needs to tell DT that the word resign has an "s" in it!
