Wow, I must have set that photo to post awhile back. Haven't seen that sort of blue sky in too long.
We've got a fair amount of snow on the ground (22.5"), but what's hard is actually the temperature. We haven't gone above -1ºF in a couple days, and we're aiming for -10ºF tonight. I think I have a touch of Cabin Fever, having been holed up here, with wind chills down to -30ºF. But! Tomorrow the wind will settle down and by midday we'll finally have + temps again. What I really can't wrap my head around is that we're supposed to have temps around +36ºF on Weds and Thurs. I'm not sure I can IMAGINE temps above freezing anymore.
Still Sunday (evening) here. We had some rain Sat.-Sun. night, large threatening clouds in the morning largely replaced with blue sky and scattered white cumulus clouds in the afternoon. The wind felt like there is probably snow in the mountains, but they were obscured by clouds. Tomorrow afternoon we plan to start pruning trees and shrubs. I have to get to work and fill two pages in my sketchbook for drawing class.
If most Dems would consider Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for president, then most Dems need to read the Constitution. In order to be eligible to be elected president, a person must be, among other things, thirty-five years of age. The young woman in question is twenty-nine. Perhaps, if she is still the darling of the Left by the next election cycle. But that's a long way away. By then there'll be a new wunderkind.
"A new Axios/SurveyMonkey poll finds that 74% of Democrats (and people who lean Dem) would consider voting for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) if she were old enough to run for president."
Happily, we woke up to that same deep blue sky! We got Wil's car dug out, all the pathways shoveled again, and the snow raked off the edge of the roof. I am feeling a LOT better! Now heading out for supplies. Snow, ice and rain expected tomorrow and Thursday.
May not have mentioned, I'm currently rereading Magnificent Obsession by Lloyd C. Douglas, the same fellow who wrote The Robe, which I've also read. Magnificent Obsession is a great read on many levels.
So I am feeling every minute of my age. We had a snow a few days ago that was supposed to be minimal, but it turned out to be 8-10". I did get all that shoveled out, including the ice dam left behind by the snowplow. Snow must have been fairly deep because they won''t plow for less than 4". Next it rained, and it rained and it rained. The told us it would snow overnight, but when I looked out the door I thought, "Oh easy, only 2 to 3". Nope, when I got out in it it was another 6 - 8" and we had a NEW ice dam from the plow. I just can't do this anymore. I got one little strip shoveled down the drive and Son #2 came out and helped me get rid of the ice dam, even though he is sick. I'm taking him to the Dr. tomorrow. Now it's supposed to rain all night and all day again, so we'll see what delights the weather brings this time. I'm going to have to start free weights again so I can take care of business.
When I looked out the window and thought we'd gotten 6", it turned out to be 11" then and 3" more overnight. All that on top of 8.5" for a total of 22.5". Then it dipped below zero for several days, then wind was added. So, much of it just sat there (including atop Wil's car) until today. After we got it all cleared, I went out for supplies, came home made dinner and got the machines running (washer and dishwasher). Whoo! I'm tired! And I'm younger than you. Is there a teen in the neighbourhood who could use a little pocket money? Our plow guy has a snowblower and for an extra fee will do walkways and whatnot. But so far we are keeping our money in our pockets. The day is coming, though, when we will need help. Now that all our kids have houses of their own to tend, we don't feel we can ask them to help. I'm glad Son #2 was there...but sad to hear he's sick. I hope it's nothing serious. XOXOXXX
We had eight to ten inches Saturday. The snowplow guy was so busy he didn't get to us till about 11:30 Sunday night. When they finished, Dad brought him and his brother in for hot tomato soup. It's predicted to get up to a balmy 40 degrees tomorrow.
We had some frost this morning; could hear the wind machines in the orange orchards across the river. Tomorrow is expected to be warmer, 60F/39F. This afternoon we got a good-sized and vigorous wisteria maybe half pruned. Tomorrow we should finish the job. Then on to the Santa Rosa plum tree the next day.

We got up to 27 degrees today. *Feels* positively tropical. I can live with that. The past few days have been exhausting.
