Poinsettias

  1. Still yesterday here; I overate, and in consequence am partaking of my single serving of digestif for the year. On another note altogether, the other day we did some yard work. I renovated a flower bed (mulch, manure and digging), and the next day, when Miyoko went to transplant some nice groundcover we have, the flowerbed was covered with deer tracks!

    1. I don't think I told this story here before, but if I did, chalk it up to geezerhood. Or maybe, like George Bernard Shaw, I often quote myself because it adds spice to my conversation. [grin]

    2. LOL The latter, Alan, the latter, indubitably.

Reminds me of a line from Whitman my favorite prof was fond of quoting:

Do I contradict myself? Very well then, I contradict myself.

  2. As memory serves me, Cat, the Whitman quote comes from "Leaves of Grass." I still have the copy I purchased at the only local bookshop when I was about fifteen years old.

    1. I'm hoping the next four years will prove Illinois is governable. Hoping.

  4. It's a new era.
Eldest*Grand got an iPhone for Christmas and her younger sister (9) got an iPod. I still think of an iPod as being a device that plays music. However, this one can do FaceTime! So for the second day in a row I woke to a request forFaceTiming before I'd even fallen out of bed. LOL!

This will take some getting used to, and a little negotiation. 😂
I explained that I was "on the run" just now but could talk at a specific time. At that time, however, her Mom was ready to go somewhere, so we had to wait again. But! We did just get a chance to connect, and I got a tour of all the fun she and Eldest had today, sprucing up their room.

I think I'm going to love this! ✨💖✨

  6. Grands really help. They keep me focused on what matters, what's beautiful, what's unspoiled.
They are keeping me sane while I wait for the day when I will never again have to think of DT.

  7. Totally different handwriting, totally different speech patterns. It's as if the man we know as Donald Trump is a clumsy impostor. Either that or he is extremely ill, with some sort of degenerative brain condition or the like. It's creepy not to say scary as all get out!

    1. Malignant Narcissistic Personality Disorder is damn scary. When backed into a corner the person with this condition will only get worse. He is less likely to back down or resign. He is more likely to go ballistic.
I look forward to the day when President Caligula is merely history, and I hope we will survive and be able to repair most of what has been needlessly destroyed. There is something seriously deficient with democracy when it permits this kind of mess to continue this long.
