Morning Misty Mountains

  1. ia Love lost in Utah, *by provisional ballots*! Depriving the republicans of the only black they have in the House. Which got me to thinking--if I gave a party and only white people showed up, if I went to church and only straight people showed up, and if I went to vote and everyone in my party was pretty much white and straight and male~~then I'd have to think I was not in the right place. Heck, my Meeting in Berkeley was about 20% Buddhists, lol!

  2. I tried to post a post, but the computer ate it, I hadn't saved a copy, and I can't remember what it was about. Kind of a hectic day.

There is a smaller city in the next county where any people of color were rare, and I felt very uncomfortable there. But there has been a great increase in the latino population of the city over decades.

We intended to get a Honda Fit today, but it was not to be. The story is that the paint is mismatched and Honda won't let the dealership sell it, at least for now. But we sold our old Toyota Camry with the leaking head gasket to a nice young mechanic at the repair shop we have long patronized; he can fix it, and was looking for a car for his daughter. So lots of room in our garage for Naomi to park when she comes home for Thanksgiving--no need to move cars around. Maybe tomorrow morning I will go up to Modesto and take a look at that car; it might be the only new one in the country of the model and with the safety features that I want. Maybe I will lay in a supply of discount taxi scrip as well--75% off for folks 70+. No Art class tomorrow, but there is homework and advance homework to do.

QUESTION FOR SUSAN: What do you think of Sherrod Brown? Folks continue to talk about him as a potential Presidential candidate, but aside from what Wikipedia says, I don't know anything much about him.

    1. What I know about him is that he is a Progressive and has always fought hard for workers and the "common man". I have voted for him every time. I'm not going to settle on a Presidential candidate at this early point. I want to wait to see what is available closer to the fracas.

    2. I agree. I seem to remember an election several years ago where a candidate I had never heard of before suddenly became my choice. Could happen again.

    3. Gee, Bill, I can't imagine who you might be referring to. 😉 After all, I did not have that experience. The candidate of choice had already been my Governor for a dozen years or so. 😄
