We had a little more rain during the night! And it looks like we might get more today. Tim Canova cast loose of the Democratic Party altogether, including ActBlue, months ago. I'm not at all surprised that the DNC won't help Janz.
Obama has endorsed the Dem gubernatorial candidate here in Mass., which is less impressive than it sounds considering that the candidate, Jay Gonzales, can't manage to state clearly on his campaign web site what his qualifications are and what specific goals he has. His statement is just paragraph after paragraph of empty platitudes. The incumbent,Republican Charlie Baker, by contrast, has a clear, detailed statement of his accomplishments while in office and of exactly what he hopes to accomplish in a second term. Sis is definitely going to vote for Baker. Not altogether sure I can bring myself to do that, but I am definitely not voting for Gonzales. He's a lawyer, for cripe's sake. But he can neither write a clear mission statement nor hire a staff that can do so? That is not what I want for a governor. I am disappointed that Obama would endorse such a sub par candidate. I am not a yellow dog Democrat. I want someone intelligent, with clear qualifications and specific, clearly stated, achievable goals. From what I've seen, that's not Gonzales.
I should have expected better of Massachusetts, Cat. If you will pardon me for saying so, it sounds like he is a mainline New Democrat--like HRC. "More of the Same!" is not a compelling campaign slogan these days.
I am convinced that the GOP will vote Kavanope onto the court. They are using this tissue of an "investigation" as their cover. We MUST turn the house blue so that we can Impeach Kavanope. He is just so, so wrong for any court. The National Council of Churches has called for his nomination to be withdrawn, the ABA says this should not move forward, 1,200 law professors say he's not fit and 620 psychiatrists say he needs testing. And the fact that Kavanope LIED REPEATEDLY to the Senate should be all that's required to remove him.
What I cling to in the insanity of this world....... I have a letter board and on it this quote (don't know source)
Start where you are Use what you have Do what you can
I am in agreement with you, Susan. The current horse race stories in the news are becoming worse than tiresome. There is still time for another October Surprise.
Yes, I would, Bill. President Obama has endorsed Rich. Being here in Ohio I am subjected to DeWine's lying smear ads against Cordray. They are sickening. Plus he is 71 and Rich is 59. I'm pretty sick of old white Republican men these days.
I'm feeling as near as I ever have to just cashing in my political chips. I'm sick of the whole thing. National Nurse can't get a hearing; someone as blatantly unfit as Kavanaugh gets to be a Justice; we have the most disgusting American of all as President. I declare that if the Republicans really are fired up now, and we don't win House and Senate, I have a will to just stop reading the news and go about my life. Spend time with my grandchildren, sit with people seeking spiritual guidance, help a neighbour, read the classics, listen to Mozart. Pray. Just be. It seems to me that that would be just as good a thumbing of my nose at the dictator in chief as any other action I could take.
The current state of affairs is intense, listener. I am reminded of the old advice that there is no sense taking life too seriously--you're not going to get out of it alive anyway. But I find myself throwing the switch and putting myself into another, non-political, space. I just looked over here for a moment while I subliminally cogitate about my next art assignment. Acrylic paint, black, white and one more color (last optional), inspired by one verse of a poem. I have been seeking inspiration from some Georgia O'Keefe landscapes and a photo of Yosemite Valley. Mean to start laying it out within the next ten minutes or so. I have had very nice feedback from professional artist daughter and accomplished amateur artist cousin on an attempt at Cubism last week.
"Readers who come to The Gospel of Loki expecting "an original fantasy novel" by Joanne Harris may well be disappointed. Pitched, openly and unashamedly, at the commercial end of the market, this book is more likely to delight those whose Loki is the one from the Marvel movies than to satisfy admirers of Harris's astringent, highly original and often subtly fantastic mainstream novels."
Astringent, highly original and often subtly fantastic? That sounds interesting! Anyone here familiar with her work? If so, please put your oar in the water!

Sen. Pat Leahy has been on Vermont Edition this half hour. He is livid and trying so hard.

Susan ~~ What do you think of Coudray for Ohio governor? Would you recommend I contribute to his campaign?
