11: Make America Kind Again

Today is the last day to Register to Vote in:
NEBRASKA

When I see someone standing on a corner at a traffic light, holding a sign with a plea for help,
I always feel so badly for them. Yet I don't know whether giving them money could
further a dangerous habit.   But to give them supplies can never hurt.
Having this ready to pass to them is essential, as there is often so little time in which to act.

"This is what me and my daughter have started doing....We are keeping a 'Blessing bag' in our car in case we find someone in need. You can make these up with items from the Dollar Tree such as gloves, thermal socks, beef sticks, crackers, candy bars, toothpaste, toothbrush, wipes, deodorant, snacks and other items that may help someone who is homeless or in a bad way. It is just a thoughtful, inspiring thing to do. This is something we are going to start doing from now on. Thank you to the ones that did this long before us, for being such a giving, loving, caring person! Random acts of kindness take very little to change the life of just one person." 👼

    1. I was surprised that Mt. Shasta made the BIG 18 list; but Mr. Rainier is no surprise at all. And the next time the Cascadia Fault busts loose it is going to be a huge disaster. As memory serves me, most of the public schools in Oregon and Washington are not built to the earthquake resistance standards of California--not even to California's standards of the 1930's. (There was a sizable quake that hit Long Beach around 1925, fortunately on a Saturday, so school was out. So many school buildings failed that the a school construction standard for earthquake resistance was passed in the early 1930's, and updated in the 1960's as I recall. No California school building built to the post-Long Beach standard has ever failed in an earthquake.

P.S.: I just got registered in a beginning drawing class for next semester; I'm not thrilled with the time, but another section might open up.

  2. Two more package bombs discovered. A suspect has been arrested, but there is currently no more information, not even where the arrest was made.

    1. The accused has been labeled "The MAGAbomber." Part of me hopes the label sticks. Some of the bumper stickers are clearly pro-GOP, some people allegedly recognize others as "alt-right" types.

    2. Per NBC News: “Public records show that suspect Cesar Sayoc is a registered Republican with an extensive criminal history who appears to have owned a dry cleaning business and a catering business.”

Per NYT: “Mr. Sayoc, a registered Republican, has a lengthy criminal history in Florida dating back to 1991 that includes felony theft, drug and fraud charges, as well as being arrested and accused of threatening to use a bomb, public records show.”

    3. "DNA evidence played a role in the arrest, per NBC."

    4. Per NBC "Sayoc's van had dozens of pictures of Trump and pro-Trump statements covering almost every window."

  3. Registered Republican with DT plastered all over his white van. So, you mean it wasn’t perpetrated by Barack Obama or HRC?

  4. Auntie Beeb says he has ties to New York. What exactly that means, I'm not sure. But it bolsters my theory, which is: Trump is behind the bombing campaign and this poor dumb schmuck is just the fall guy. Mum liked that idea and added a touch of her own, to whit: Whichever of Trump's people in the White House recruited him probably assured him that, if he got caught, "Don't worry. I know somebody who can pardon you."

    1. The fact is that this guy has been threatening political violence for more than a quarter century. I don't think it would have taken more than Trump's rhetoric for him to finally put his hands where his mouth was.

  5. Got an e-mail this evening from Tom Stayer, in which he said that this morning a suspicious package addressed to him was intercepted at a post office in California. Hardly surprising, since his organization is called Need to Impeach.
