Even more outrageous than Nancy Pelosi is Diane Feinstein running again at 84 years old. There comes a time when you have to make way for the younger people. Nancy, if elected, would only win a two year term, but Diane would win a six year term. If she survived that long she's be 90 YEARS OLD when her term ends.
Despite the fact that DiFi was always too far to the right for my tastes, I voted for her repeatedly, back in the days when I voted for anything that was labeled "Democrat" for old times' sake. But the last straw was when she voted for the war on Iraq. To her constituents who pleaded with her not to, her reply was essentially "Don't worry your pretty little heads, Mama Feinstein knows best." She later claimed that she was misled by Bush Jr. Baloney; anyone with the brains God gave a goose knew exactly what she was voting for. And she is unquestionably superannuated. Can't say as I am thrilled with her likely opponent, California Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon (who seems to be having a bit of trouble with a sex harassment scandal in the state senate on his watch), but he is arguably more qualified than DiFi was when she was elected--her previous elected office was Mayor of San Francisco). I think I will have to see what Wikipedia has to say about de Leon.
Pennsylvania's 18th District (immediately south of Pittsburgh) voted today in a special US House seat election. Currently, the D candidate is ahead with 54.3% and the R with 43.1%, with about 40% of the vote in. It's a district that DT won in a landslide. So far, so good.
CNN just said that all across PA today people were calling and asking why their polling place wasn't open. The announcer said, "The good news for PA is that those people were not allowed to vote." LOL!!
Amazing to realise that your snow came from the same storm system that mine did, and Boston's as well, isn't it? Usually a storm hits Chicago first, then makes its way across the Northeast. This storm is in the Atlantic and reaching over to Chicago. Unholy Moly!
Hey! The 1195 ballots are being counted tonight instead of tomorrow! Cool! They're scanning them, then they're going to hand count the ballots. Those poll workers deserve lots of credit for staying there until probably 1:30am to do the count. It's a lot of work.
Talk about a squeaker. The R's threw in everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink and a fantabulous amount of money--they can't possibly do that with more than a few other races.
At 11:24 p.m. EDT, the Associated Press decided the race was too close to call. As of 12:00 a.m., absentee votes were still outstanding in Greene and Washington counties.
Most interesting that news of the Rex Tillerson firing floods the media on the day of the special election in Pennsylvania...

Yes, it is time for Nancy Pelosi to step aside, for the good of the country and her party.[Click] “The House Democratic leader is both unpopular and extremely well known. That’s a lethal combination in politics.” Let her be the power behind the throne, even.

How ironic that I posted a blue sky photo for today as a Blizzard hits the northeast! It's just been some light snow here.
ReplyDeleteWe had snow in Chicago also, but only about an inch.

If the math stays about as it has been, the Dem could win by about 200 votes...out of about 220,000 votes. WOW.

ReplyDeleteHope is alive.
