That cake was delicious! It's the cake our DIL made for our family Christmas party. Imagine flavourful, moist, home made gingerbread, with home made cream cheese frosting and caramel drizzle, topped with hand-sugared cranberries. I like gingerbread cookies, but I'm not much of a fan of gingerbread. But this!! Even our grand who despises gingerbread wolfed it down! Here's hoping you got something truly sweet in your day, Cat! ♥
Home of Roy Moore accuser destroyed by fire Alabama authorities say arson is being investigated in a fire that destroyed the home of Tina Johnson, a woman who accused former US Senate candidate Roy Moore of grabbing her on the buttocks in 1991.
A person can’t help but think of the possibility of arson, given the circumstances; but one shouldn’t jump to conclusions. In any event, there is a gofundme[Click] page for her, and it seems to be coming along nicely. House prices seem moderate in Gadsden.
We had a bit of rain last night and this morning, enough to significantly improve the air quality. We took the decorations off our Christmas/Yule/New Year's tree; one of my jobs was to remove the lights, and going around and around left me surprisingly dizzy. Getting old? Next year I will use the up-and-down method of stringing the lights, rather than the around and around method.
Or....could the dizziness be a prodromal symptom of the flu? I was vaccinated, but they say this year's vaccine isn't as effective as usual, and two coworkers have come down with it. Fingers crossed.
Or, upon reflection, might the dizziness stem from a combination of physical exhaustion due to overwork and the psychological stress of resigning my job? Yes, that seems a more likely explanation. I got my letter of resignation typed and printed just now, ready for hand delivery on Monday. Oh, my.
I'm thinking the stress will increase as you hand in your resignation, but once it's accepted the stress will lessen. And pretty soon you'll actually retire and that stress will be gone! Take care of yourself so to bear the stress. And thanks so much for your excellent posts these past few days. I'm still catching up.
From the last thread, in case you didn't see it--I didn't have a chance to post until today...
Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! Hard to believe it's 2018 already.
Daughter is home on break, and was pleased to see that her cat has put on weight and seems healthier than when she last saw him.
Don't know if I mentioned, but my mom is doing pretty well. Tired a lot, but her medication has done a good job of stomping on the cancer. Knock wood, and all that.
Didn't know about your mom, Renee. Another cancer survivor here wishing her well. Tired? Oh, yes. In future the treatments may be far easier, but they are a lot better now than they were not long ago--improving by the year. Chemo alone, or combined with radiation, is often curative nowadays. And one tends to forget the rough parts.

That is such a good point about "the complicity of other power-holders"!! I'm noticing more people calling for people inside and outside the WH to step up and say something. Something is building here.

Mmmmmm..looks like butterscotch on top!
