I expect Mueller will do a very good job; I am somewhat surprised that someone of that caliber was chosen. Could it be that either they don't dare appoint someone seen as a political hack, or that is this payback for trying to pin Comey's ouster on Rosenstein? The latter would be more amusing, it seems to me.

Did anyone else watch the CBS Evening News? They interviewed an older man who I think had a role in the FBI or CIA (Or?) back in December. He says that, in speaking to Kislyak in late December, Flynn was acting on someone else's orders. When pressed, the man said only "Our tradition is that we only have one President at a time, and you can draw your own conclusions." I did not catch his name or title, and can't find this online. Argh! Did anyone else catch it? I think it sounded something like "Cappy."
Flynn did two other interesting things. He was paid half a million dollars helping Turkey and recommended to DT a policy that helped the Turks against the Kurds...!!!
Flynn also was one of those who promulgated the conspiracy theory that HRC was involved in a child trafficking ring that met at a particular pizza restaurant in DC. That conspiracy theory bouncing around on rightwing websites lead to a right wing nut from NC showing up at the restaurant with an assault rifle (and two more guns), planning to shoot the place up. Quick action by the owner and police is credited with no injuries. But SHEESH!!!
“The comparisons with Richard Nixon are plentiful these days, but even he did not seem so untethered from our basic governance. And I have never seen so many members of a political party rally around incompetence, intemperance, and inanity,” ~ Dan Rather
I have just realized that one of the candidates Brand New Congress endorsed today (or was it yesterday?) is in my own district. Everything I've heard about Anthony Clark sounds good, but I also like the incumbent, Danny Davis. Many DFAers are disappointed that Davis has not been more outspoken and led the fight for the things we believe in, but his voting record is solidly progressive and he was a leader on the provision of the ADA (which the Obama administration declined to implement) that would allow people to get insurance covering in-home care as needed. That was something important to me.
Well, let's get this thread moving! 😃

McCarthy now says his remark at the time was a bad attempt at humour.

ReplyDeleteActually, I may have seen him later in the evening, too. If so, it was Philip Lacovara, counsel to the special prosecutors during Watergate.
DeleteWell, the opinion has been expressed that Flynn was unlikely to have done it on his own initiative.

P.S.: I want to see how much of Trump Inc. is mortgaged to the Russians...
