Life's a Puzzle

It's messy.  Nice when the pieces fit together, though!

P.S.: Cat--in most cases if one runs up against a "you have read as many free stories as you can this month" type of firewall, you can usually get around it by simply using another browser. I suppose one could also go in and delete the appropriate cookie from the first browser, but I have never gotten around to learning how to do that.

I went over and looked at the Borowitz link you gave us; it's a hoot! I particularly liked the one about the voices Trump hears in his head not being reported (except on his Twitter account). As others have said, this is a golden age of satire (as well as investigative reporting). But it's a struggle for the satirists to stay ahead of reality; case in point:

    1. Oh yeah I saw that newspaper thing. Couldn't for the life of me decide if someone somewhere along the line did it deliberately or if it was a genuine mistake. Either way, it's very funny.

  2. I saw Melissa MaCarthy's Sean Spicer skit of last week; it WAS really good--words just can't do it justice. Hey, if DT needs a new press secretary, it ought to be Ms McCarthy! She has proven that she has what it takes--she ain't no LOSER!!! like that SAD guy Trump sent out there to do a woman's job!

  3. RESIST: Huge Counter-Protests Overwhelm 'Defund Planned Parenthood' Rallies [Click] Dandy sign in the Ferndale, Mi photo!

I just now sent DT an e-mail demanding that he honor his promise to give us a BEAUTIFUL WALL--not some half-assed thing of corrugated iron, barbed wire, posts and bits of concrete here and there. I figure that beautiful starts with all marble or granite. MAKE AMERICA'S QUARRIES GREAT AGAIN!

I suggested to my correspondents in Canada that if the
Rumours of Sarah Palin being appointed US Ambassador to Canada [Click] should come to pass, I should strengthen the suggestion that "If Sarah Palin becomes the ambassador to Canada. Then every MP she ever speaks with should only speak to her in French."

Not only every MP, every government official at the very least. Starting with the customs inspectors. Certainly there are customs that should not be allowed to enter Canada, non?

    1. LOL

But why isn't she being appointed as ambassador to Russia? After all, she can see Russia from her back yard, which makes her an expert. :P

    1. Oh, and the Representative mentioned above is not begging, he is demanding--on the basis of a 1924 law.

RESIST: 80,000 March in Raleigh for Voting Rights, Democracy & #MoralResistance [Click] Rev. Barber really preaches it.

(BTW, our local Planned Parenthood demonstrations yesterday followed the national pattern—the antis were far outnumbered by the supporters—this in a supposedly very Republican area of California.)

    Quote of the Day
    February 12, 2017By Taegan Goddard
“We have a president who is delusional in many respects, a pathological liar.”
    — Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), quoted by the Washington Post., adding that “it is very harsh, but I think that’s the truth.”

listener—without fraudulently representing myself as a constituent, there is no way to send Bernie an e-mail. I wonder if some constituent might point out to him that “psychotic” is the proper term for someone who cannot distinguish between fact and imagination.” There might be more than one explanation for it (methamphetamine abuse is one), but I am sure DT meets the definition of not just a psychotic, but a paranoid psychotic.

    1. Thanks, listener; I am skeptical because I have never encountered a Senate or House e-mail contact that accepts missives from non-constituents, but will give it a try. I know how to emulate a constituent well enough to fool a computer program, if need be.

    1. The government is being sued for publishing data on abused animals with the names of the owners. The Obama administration had decided to keep the information up anyway.

  8. We all have the power to resist Donald Trump – in big and small ways [Click] “Everyone can do something; each of us should do as much as we can. And no one should feel guilty for not doing something else – or something more. The important thing is to keep saying no to each new outrage, and not to become complacent or inattentive.”

American Civil Liberties Union rides high on anti-Trump wave [Click] I was a member once a long time ago; maybe it’s time again. The new citizen engagement program and the increase in the state-level actions sound good.

    1. I seem to recall that I had a student membership in the ACLU back about 1963-1964. Thinking about what was going on then, I recalled the Freedom Summer. Checked on it; yep. Preliminary activities 1963, Freedom Summer 1964. There were a lot of other big things going on around that time, but I made the connection between ACLU membership and Freedom Summer. Hmmmm.....I wonder...sure enough: I have my old membership cards for 1963 and 1965; There is a note on the 1964 card that it expires 7-6-1965, so I must have sent in my application for membership in June 1964. 6/21/1964 James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner "disappeared." Their bodies were found August 4th. Either quite a coincidence, or my mind is still OK.

    2. That should be cards for 1964 and 1966; otherwise OK. I should have kept the cards in hand as I typed, instead of putting them back and then I am more easily distracted than when I was young, and it can be very irritating.

    3. I am now a card carrying member of the ACLU. Was tickled to get my card, a good sturdy one that feels like it will stand up to a lot of being removed from and replaced in my wallet.

Erm, Alan, I was born in January, 1964, so the year is rather dear to my heart. :)
