Town: two views

  1. Mr. Trump has already slipped perceptibly in public polls, trailing widely this week in Pennsylvania and by smaller margins in Florida and North Carolina — three states he cannot afford to lose.

But private polling by both parties shows an even more precipitous drop, especially among independent voters, moderate Republicans and women, according to a dozen strategists from both parties who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the data was confidential.

Liesl Hickey, a Republican strategist involved in several House races in swing states, said she was dismayed by a sudden exodus of independent voters in more diverse parts of the country. “They are really starting to pull away from Trump,” said Ms. Hickey, describing his soaring unpopularity with independents as entering “uncharted territory.”

    1. Good news. Sis has been fretting that Trump's poll numbers seem ever on the rise. Glad it's not true.

  2. Awwww.....

    And this just in:

Shortly off to work. A little tired from what was probably "stomach flu," but OK to work.

    1. I probably did overdo it today, but I have the weekend off, and my co-workers would have been seriously overburdened. One worker took Thursday and Friday off for a wedding(!), so that left us down two Thursday and down one today. Tired and achey all day--which probably indicates a virus. My stomach is still a bit off.

On the positive side, I got started memorizing a Sacred Harp tune--Antioch. Figured out that the best way is simply to have a CD with as many recordings as possible (if clear). It is musically simple compared to those that have different sections coming in one after another.

  3. Oh! That top picture - the building with the red and white striped awnings? Boy, would I love to take a tour of the attic of that building!

    1. Re Iceland, it is important to note that the convictions were for stock price manipulation, not for anything directly related to the derivatives trading that brought the Icelandic banks down and triggered the US bank bailouts.

    1. Nothing could shake the Clinton supporters I know. Even those who were initially for Bernie are now firmly under the sway of the koolade. I truly believe video of her drowning newborn kittens would not sway her cultists.Even sane people seem to have fallen prey to the lesser evil argument. I was recently talking to a Bernie supporter who reluctantly supposed she had to vote for Clinton, and was shocked at my calm assertion that I plan to vote for Stein.

    2. I just posted on my FaceBook page the T-shirt designs for the Cthulu and Sauron campaigns. But I don't think I'll vote for either one. Especially not Sauron -- why would I want to make Mordor great again?
