The smoke is said to be coming from a big fire over on the coast, maybe a hundred miles away or somewhat more. The prevailing winds push the smoke into the valley, where it is trapped, probably until a cold front blows through. I think the fire has been burning for ten days or maybe more.
On Thursday I have a court date in Santa Barbara--too far away for me to drive, and airplane connections were very complicated; the attorney figured a chauffeured Town Car would be most practical--works for me! I'd better get some studying done tonight as well as tomorrow evening.
