While doing a web search today I came across the following from a page titled "Justice Quotes:"
"Finally, let us understand that when we stand together, we will always win. When men and women stand together for justice, we win. When black, white and Hispanic people stand together for justice, we win."
I read it and smiled and said, "That sounds like Bernie. Then I read the attribution - Bernie Sanders. WOOT!
It was displayed between two other quotes:
"Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
and
"Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe." - Frederick Douglass
There are other quotes as well, many of them well known. Here's the link:
It seems Bernie keeps good company; excellent find, Cat!
What’s Wrong With Hillary? [Click] A certifiable media establishment “pundit” recognizes what has not been news for some time. (His slightly facetious comment on Bernie’s consistency is reason and humor combined—it sounds like fodder for a Larry David SNL Bernie skit.)
I shall post my primary prognostications for tomorrow this evening more or less after 1800 hrs EDT.
Good article, Alan. I don't want Hillary because she's dishonest, very dishonest and she's far too friendly to fracking, trade deals and war to fit easily into my comfort zone. She's a terrible candidate and on Facebook Bernie supporters are catching hell because people are panicky that we might not vote for Hillary if she's the nominee. In fact, they act as if she's already the nominee and we should just shut up, ignore our misgivings and hop on board.
I saw a Rubio ad on the Tribune web site yesterday. I think the pundits have been too quick to write him off. Although he MUST win his home state of Florida tomorrow (winner-take-all).
I made it there and back again, despite freezing rain, plus pouring rain AND huge snowflakes coming down together at times! In fact, part way home I realised I could take my Mini out of Green mode and put it into Sport mode, to have dynamic traction control and more pep is needed. My Mini never slipped at all, despite not having snows on, and I still arrived home having gotten 45mpg! I'm impressed and pleased!
The news is that my spiritual guide has Alzheimer's and is ceasing all guidance. An emotional meeting, as he has been part of the group for nearly two decades.
Another guide I have long treasured as a friend is willing to be my guide, so I will be okay in this. Of course, there is yet a lot to process.
Good news about your Mini, listener. It's front wheel drive, isn't it? I remember the difference the first time I had a front wheel drive car--they seem inherently less likely to skid. I can see you as a green sort of person who can become sporty from time to time...
Yes, front wheel drive. I would never ever drive rear wheel again. We had a rear wheel drive mini van and it was miserable on a hill (going up or down!).
Here are my Parlor Pinko’s Plucky Presidential Primary Prognostications for March 15th, based on Google Trends search data for HRC and Bernie as of 1730 hrs EDT, adjusted for previous conformance to actual results:
I figure that even if the Google Trends data should have predictive value at this time, they should be easy to spoof unless Google weeds out searches from the same address on the same day, which they might be doing anyway.
Standing tall and speaking one's mind is first.

I LOVED that bit about Bernie's consistency.
DeleteAwesome sleuthing! Thanks for the link, Cat!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the prayers.

Oh, my--sorry to hear about your guide, listener.

* "is needed" should have read "if needed"

I liked the way you said that, Alan. :-D

Cat, meant to mention: excellent Firsties with reference to the photo out front! :-)
ReplyDeleteHere are my Parlor Pinko’s Plucky Presidential Primary Prognostications for March 15th, based on Google Trends search data for HRC and Bernie as of 1730 hrs EDT, adjusted for previous conformance to actual results:
ReplyDeleteIllinois: Bernie
Florida: Probable HRC win
Ohio: Bernie
Missouri: BERNIE!
North Carolina: Bernie
Mid-day data seemed to indicate close races in Illinois and North Carolina.
According to an e-mail from Bernie HQ, the latest (unspecified) polls show:
Illinois HRC 48%, Sanders 45%
Ohio HRC 46%, Sanders 45%
Missouri HRC 46%, Sanders 47%
Perusing the GOP data for Florida and Ohio, it looks like runaways wins for DT in both states; according to a reasonable-sounding analysis on Politico the other day, If he wins both Florida and Ohio he will probably cinch the GOP nomination. [Click]
I figure that even if the Google Trends data should have predictive value at this time, they should be easy to spoof unless Google weeds out searches from the same address on the same day, which they might be doing anyway.

ReplyDeleteWill do! Not bad for a 8 year old, eh?
DeleteWe print her best for her to keep in a notebook she can show her teacher. :-)
1830 Google Trends data--
ReplyDeleteIlinois--Bernie pulling farther ahead.
Florida--No change
Ohio--about the same
Missouri--about the same
North Carolina--about the same.
