Playtime!

  1. Warmer (much) today, and lots of sun/shadow. Still lots of compressed snow (ice) on the road, and near the house. Doesn't seem to bother Beau, but I'm certain it'd dump me.

  2. We had a few inches of snow overnight and tonight will have some more. Then we're to have a few more inches on Friday and I believe some more on Sunday. But sometimes the snow is sunlit with blue shadows, and sometimes the full moon is out. And today it got over 20F and the roof dripped a little. I love the quiet this time of year, and the clarity of the air. It always amazes me that when it's way below zero the snow crystals are too cold to stick to each other, so when the wind blows and they fly off branches, they fall down as individual crystals! It's delightful to watch that happen against a deep blue sky on a sunny day.

  3. In places where it gets REALLY COLD (e.g. Fairbanks--think 60 below zero and holding) the water vapor from breathing, automobile exhaust and heater vents freezes into particles so small that they form a solid-gas colloid in the air--i.e., they don't settle at all. No thanks!

And darn tootin' I'm going to keep up with the stretching exercises. Also starting (very easily) some mild strengthening exercises. I realized I have been favoring my right leg for years, and it is in more need of strengthening than the left. Easy does it...

    1. Yeah, Alan, I think I'd like to skip the colloid-in-the-air sort of weather, too. We did hit a windchill of -33F once in January. But in my thinking anything lower than -20F is a waste.
