Gee--we'd be willing to share the water--even the snow and ice in the mountains, just like Howard Dean! The weatherpersons were going to give us some rain this coming weekend, but changed their minds.
listener--I purchased (and have received) the "Tai Chi for Arthritis" DVD's by Paul Lam (which is Sun style), and also the 38-step Sun Style DVD by Faye Yip. As preparation for whichever I choose to follow, I find the following Chi Kung exercises to be amazingly helpful--amazing, in fact. Once I feel my body is sufficiently recovered due to the Chi Kung exercises, and I have perused the DVD's, I plan to start actual T'ai Chi practice. Probably I will go with the Faye Yip 38-step version; the Paul Lam version seems altogether too limited in motion, although the pedagogic structure seems better. Maybe I will go back and forth between the two?
Alan, I used to do Tai Chi Chuan, and now I'm taking an 8 week class on the very kind of Tai Chi you posted about: Tai Chi for Arthritis developed by Dr. Paul Lam. I can't believe my ears heard Wally instead of Paul. Ha! I hadn't yet seen his name written. That very DVD you have is sold in class for $26. Please let me know if you think it is highly worth the price. I like the exercises and the form, though I also loved the form I used to use. The instructor told me that Dr. Lam changed the form to be simpler and with less motion to make it easier for people with arthritis. You might check with your local Agency on Aging, as our area Agency offers the Tai Chi classes free of charge!
The Sun style of T'ai Chi is notable for its more upright posture, small hand motions and relatively complicated foot motions. It truly looks beautiful.
Wouldyoubelieve we staffers arrived at the Library at 1pm today to start stocking the new shelves with books, but ... there are still no shelves!!? They missed their truck connection in Philly by one hour. They should arrive in Burlington tonight, then be delivered tomorrow morning at 9:30am. [Yes, these are the shelves that were supposed to be installed last Monday.] So we are gathering at 11am tomorrow to *finally* stock the shelves (she said, hopefully)! It will take a couple days of hard effort, but we still hope to reopen on Tuesday.
Will be starting infusion of a new heavy-duty chemo drug in just a bit that can cause some scary/dangerous infusion reactions. I would gratefully accept any good/positive thoughts and/or prayers that I may come through okay. Please know how much I appreciate them and you.

Alan, the Sun style does flow nicely. I am enjoying it very much, and I too feel so much energy from it. After all "Chi" means energy!
ReplyDeletepuddle, thank you so much. I saw your post at 3.0 and went over to FB to send our tc some love. Rough days! :-(
ReplyDeleteNot been having a lot of luck with facebook last several days. That was about it for today. And I couldn't like or comment, so I'm glad you did! xox
