Here we are, fighting some of the very same problems all over again, albeit sometimes in somewhat different costumes. I'd bet Howard could see that and deal with it more effectively than people for whom the 1950's and 1960's are things mentioned in passing in their high school history textbooks.
Yes, Bill--Anarcho-Syndicalism came to my mind as well; how could it not? Leninism? Pah! I thought also of the early Russian soviets that were suppressed by the Leninists. I admire Lenin as an extremely effective politician, but not as a promoter of human commonweal. I wonder at times if the world might have turned out better if the Okhrana had dealt with Lenin before he arrived in St. Petersburg, but who knows? That is the stuff of alternative history, and it is beyond human understanding to be able to know the answer.
Easy day at work--the local minions of the law were not hauling in many inebriated citizens over the weekend, for whatever reason. Today I tried to start learning the 38-step Sun Style T'ai Chi, but that was rather too much; better gear down to the 13-step beginners' version. My inactivity over the weekend left me with stiff muscles on my right side, but a double dose of stretching exercises and normal work dealt with that.
Ah, Alan, good for you. I need to do some stretches. Last evening I suddenly realised that about the time I was picking up my granddaughter for the day, that morning, I was also missing my Tai Chi class. It was completely the right ting to do, given the situation. And the instructor did say not to worry if we miss a class as she will go over everything. Nevertheless, I am thinking I'd best buy the DVD after all. Heh.
I always get a kick out of people going ga-ga over "sea salt" or "kosher salt." I expect that if someone marketed "Genuine Tethys Sea Salt" they could find people who would say it tasted better than other sea salt.

P.S.: I do wonder what gives the pink salt its color--minerals or algae? Maybe manganous ion? Never have looked it up, though.
Home safe and sound. I bit tired from getting up for an early breakfast, but an afternoon nap largely cured that. Doing laundry from the trip (must go hang up the second load of clothes) and sorting email into the proper folders.

Cat, to answer your question from a few threads back, the cranberries cannot be turned into chocolate chips. One can however turn them into a delightful chocolate like additive to cookies, which then become chocolate cookies from the chocolate juice of the now non-cranberries.

DeleteLol! Just reading a review for Himalayan pink salt. They like it much better than the old sodium based salt.
ReplyDeleteDo these people vote?
