  1. Howard is first, as always.

And another story about train congestion in Chicago and the delays it causes nationwide: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-amtrak-ridership-late-trains-met-1028-20141028-story.html>http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-amtrak-ridership-late-trains-met-1028-20141028-story.html. But there is at least recognition of the need for infrastructure upgrades to accommodate the increase in rail traffic over the past half century.

  3. Oddly, I haven't been having any trouble.

I'm using a Mac and Safari, for what it's worth.

  4. A friend sent me this article today. We both had home births back in the early 80's. It's amazing to read such affirmation now. Sad to see how much what we worked to raise awareness about still needs learning. Change takes so very much time.

Why are Obstetricians, Labor Nurses, and Other Medical Professionals Choosing to Have Their Babies at Home?

    1. Actually, my two home births were in 1978 and 1982.

  5. Is everyone else having their e-mail inboxes inundated by candidates asking for money? I've given small amounts to Congressional and Senate candidates around the country, and it seems like every one is sending two or three e-mails a day asking for more. The headlines seem to alternate between screaming about great news and screaming that everything is lost. I'll frankly be glad when the election is over and I only have charitable organizations begging for money.

  6. No such problems here, Bill. I have gone through unsubscribing to two or three politicians' web sites that I had never heard of during the past couple of months, but that's it. I get occasional mailers from the GOP, who thinks someone else lives here. The Dems don't give a hoot about this area, having done their best (at least the state and national organizations) to make this an unchallenged Republican district. Obama swoops by California once in a while, but only to scoop up big money in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas. The majority of the state is ignored by the national Dems because they assume they have us in their pocket. Which is probably true. Say what one will about Bill Clinton (I didn't much like him), at least he was a frequent visitor to California--and not just to rake up money. I find it interesting to see the momentary increase in political advertising, when so many people (including myself) have long since voted.

Well, I have been ignoring a small consulting job long enough. Better knock it out and get to bed.
