Rose-Breasted Grosbeak!

  1. Woot for Dean!

Certainly "rose-breasted grosbeak" could hardly be a more descriptive name! None hereabouts.

listener--Where I grew up the humidity was high (but the temperature rarely was). We had an electric dehumidifier in the living room--maybe about the size of an ottoman. Refrigeration coils condensed water from the air; we would empty several quarts of water out of it every morning.

puddle--glad to hear you had a good day. I'm having to work left-handed for a while; that and oil of wintergreen lotion in the evenings will have my hands/forearms back in shape in time. I'm in no hurry to get carpal tunnel releases. Maybe another seven years or so, perhaps even five, and I can take it easy. Until then, pay attention to what my body is telling me, and work as smart as I can.

Off to San Diego again on 7/10, then a week later off to Yreka (in far northern California--nearly a two-day trip). Unfortunately the famous palindromic business, the Yreka Bakery, has long since gone out of business, or I would patronize them.

Yesteday was a doozy at work--today a bit light for a Wednesday. On the way home this evening I almost got caught in a sobriety checkpoint--I had my driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance out and ready to present, but they weren't yet stopping anyone. Fooey!

    1. Thinking of the story about the lightning strike on the fire--I wonder if the flames, which are a plasma, might have acted like a lightning rod.

  2. Alan, apparently the fact that the fire fighters were holding hoses and axes was not in their favour.
