Well, I don't think that's going to happen--but in terms of competence he seems ahead of some others. At this point I don't see any attractive candidates for either the D's or the R's. I remember Mr. gore's guest spot on Saturday Night Live.
Cooler here than yesterday--we left the windows open until about 10 AM; predicted high is 104, but tomorrow is supposed to be a bit warmer--107. Gardening in the evening.
I plan to watch "Waterloo" with Rod Steiger and Christopher Plummer this evening; I saw it when it was originally in the theaters (1970); that's long enough to forget almost enough to make it new.
Much as I still ache that Bill Clinton's mistake lost Al Gore the presidency, I think that his work on global warming and his separation from Tipper would lose him the presidency this time around. It's complicated; they've been separated for 4 years, are still married, and both are dating other people. I know that's personal stuff, but it won't fly well with voters.
Not only would it probably not fly with the voters, I doubt the Gores would be willing to put themselves through it. Nixon (allegedly) came back from losing the Presidency through fraud, but I don't think Mr. Gore has anything like the drive of Nixon (fire in the belly, if you will).
On another note, I have changed the startup page for all the browsers on my laptop to StartPage [Click], a secure interface to Google searches--certified for privacy by the EU. I will shortly change all the browsers on our iMac to match, except for the one Miyoko uses for Japanese web browsing.
There were a lot of evidently happy earthworms at the bottom of the compost heap. The top layers were too dry, so I put them back together with some of the finished product to seed them, and watered the works down well.
And now to watch Waterloo. with Rod Steiger and Christopher Plummer!
Catch the wave. Go Dean!
ReplyDeleteMum offered an interesting suggestion. Should couldn't remember who she first hear propound it except she thought it was a print reporter.
ReplyDeleteRather than Hillary Clinton, the Democratic candidate in 2016 should be Al Gore. I can go along with that. What do you guys think?

Gore is 66 now. At the end of his second term he would be slightly younger than I am. That seems doable.
