HOPE

  1. Well, I thought the subzeros were behind us for this season, but I was wrong.
Currently -8F and it's possible we'll get down to -11F.

Nonetheless, I'm hoping on to Spring.

  2. I noticed just this a little while ago that our persimmon trees are starting to leaf out.

    1. Hey, Alan, if you've got real, live greenery, we might need a photo.
      We're hungry for green! :-)

    2. Oh, we have green, and pink, but no white and far too much brown. Too late in the evening for a photo, but not too late to watch Casino Royale! Very nice catch-up day at work today--I am so caught up it is almost mind boggling. I even made the rounds and de-gummed all the scissors in the place (that's one of my assignments). I suppose I could write a letter to the editor of a particular journal, but don't feel like doing it tonight.

    3. P.S.: We had a bit of rain this morning; well before I got to work it had devolved into mist, and then simply overcast.

  4. puddle, the Cardinals are practicing their Spring song, even up here! If the ice ever melts, we might get some bulbs to sprout. Ha!

  5. Casino Royale was silly when it was made (in 1967), and is sillier now. Well worth a pass.

My scissors degumming technique uses a bunch of 4X4 inch cotton gauze pads and ethyl acetate (we have it handy in a dispenser for use as a solvent in the lab; it is also sold as nail polish remover. (It's the one with a slightly nutty odor; the sweet smelling one is acetone, which evaporates much faster.) Don't smoke while using either one.
