  1. =Whew!= I just posted photos through October 24th. I will probably move a few around to be able to include timely fall foliage photos. So far, so good. I had no idear it would take 3 hours to do!

As I typed "idear", I recalled that at work on Tuesday a coworker noted that I tend to say "saw" as "sawr." (How Dean of me! LOL!)

  2. Just received the below somewhat incoherent e-mail, which contains disinformation to the level of lies on the Syria vote, from Dennis Kucinich:

Time to Stand Up for America

    Dear Friends,

Next week Congress will vote on whether to wage war on Syria, a Middle Eastern nation in the middle of a civil war.

    Say NO to more WAR.

Whether you’re Independent, Democrat, Republican, or Green; if you care about our nation, NOW is the time to stand together to direct Congress to reject war on Syria. Sign and share the PLEDGE to Congress that this vote on war with Syria will help determine your support for, or opposition to, any candidate in future elections.

I PLEDGE to vote against any Member of Congress, regardless of partisan affiliation, who votes YES to an attack on Syria. Join me.

Al Qaeda affiliates, whom we have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan for more than a decade, are known to be leading some of the rebel groups.

We cannot afford another war of choice. The government could shut down over budget talks in less than a month. What will Congress do? Vote for war on credit card one day and then shut down the U.S. government the next?

Some political leaders are calling for war in order to protect the President’s credibility. Why should our sons and daughters put their lives at risk to protect political vanity?

Speak to Congress in language they will understand:

Please SIGN and share the pledge to make this Syria vote a defining re-election issue, and stop this move towards involving the U.S. more deeply in a disastrous war.

    Thank you.
    -Dennis

Here's what I wrote back. No idea if anyone will see it, but one must try.

As a longtime supporter of Dennis Kucinich, I am deeply disappointed in the disinformation contained in the below. No one proposes waging war against Syria, quite the opposite. The idea is to assist Syrian rebels who are fighting for their country against a despotic regime. As such, I should have thought Congressman Kucinich might welcome and support this long overdue action. Instead, I find him putting his name to a pack of fear-mongering lies that would do the Tea Party proud. I am shocked and saddened by this e-mail, and not a little angered. For many years I have regarded Congressman Kucinich as a pillar of honesty and sobriety, a champion of Peace but even more a champion of Truth. This e-mail is neither honest nor truthful. As such it reflects discreditably on a man I have long respected and admired. I cannot continue to respect and admire someone who puts his name on a message that so distorts the facts. Nor can I continue to support him.

  3. What did I miss? They're talking on the Blind Catholic listserv about the U.S. launching missile strikes against Syria? That wasn't mentioned on last night's News Hour.

  4. Breath and Shadow rejected this poem. Admittedly, it's not my best ever, but the rejection still hurts.

    Your Smile

    I met you yesterday
    And then you walked away
And with a smile, your sweet smile
    You said “Au revoir.”

    I thought of you today
And how I wish you had stayed
For a while, a little while
    My shooting star

    So I’m going back again
To the place where first we met
‘Cause I’ve got to find you again
    I just can’t forget
    That smile, your sweet smile

  5. Catreona...all the best writers have a pile of rejection slips. They don't let them stop them from writing. "Keep Calm and Write On"!

Thanks for caring to write your strong message to Dennis Kucinich. I was surprised he said such things. I was disappointed too. I wasn't surprised you said what you said. Bravo.

Has Howard Dean spoken on the subject?
