A few weeks ago someone who frequents the Library where I work came in to return some books. She is home schooling her three wonderful teenage daughters and they show such poise and kindness. So, as usual, I greeted her with "How are you today?" ... and learned that her mother had been feeling tired, so came to live with them a few months ago, but had just been diagnosed with cancer and had weeks to live...! They were all terribly stunned.
Today a friend told me that a lovely woman I used to work with at the Bookshop has died. Turns out the lovely woman I worked with is the Library member's mother!! I hadn't put their names together because the daughter has a married last name! I used to have long conversations with my dear coworker about home schooling, because we home schooled and her grands were home schooling.
Strange to discover I now know those very grandchildren...! I will be able to attend her service on Tuesday, just before I go to work.
Sorry I've been so quiet today, didn't get much sleep last night: I was laughing too hard. I think the whole conspiracy thang has jumped the shark. . . .
On the way to work this morning I saw that the raisin harvest has begun. Table grapes are a much longer season. They are expecting a bumper grape harvest this year.
My old briefcase has been deteriorating in recent years; stitching giving out, handles coming apart, etc., but it still does the job. It dawned on my that I have been using it regularly for forty-nine years! I must have purchased it when I started junior college--probably at the JC bookstore. It couldn't have been very expensive given my finances. I figure I got my money's worth out of it, and that I could afford to get a new one for my Christmas (or maybe birthday) present; I got what seems to be a very nice one for a good price after a fair amount of work on eBay and Amazon.
Forty-nine years. Hmmm. That phrase sounds familiar. Sounds like the briefcase has stood the test of time at least as well as yours truly. They made things to last back then. LOL
Bill, I checked out the Lone Star Con link and it seems to work okay with Window-eyes, though I'd have to work with it more closely to really grasp it fully. To hear Window-eyes tell it as I tabbed through the page, all events tack place on Thursday. Presumably, I missed something somewhere.
There should be tabs at the top of the page where you click for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. If you can't find them, there is a problem.
And there are tabs at the bottom where you click to see the list of participants or the list of parties, or the grid of things you've clicked on that you want to see.
The Doctor was right.

Apparently the nuclear crisis in Japan is far from over.
