The Old Red Mill, flooding, May 2013

  1. Flooding still, here in Deanland.

Out front is the photo I took on Friday afternoon, of the same Old Red Mill that's at the end of the video I posted earlier. As you can see, the level has gone down a little, though it's still at flood stage and we still have rain falling. If you missed it, that link is no longer active, but here's an updated link, which includes the video: http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/article/20130524/NEWS02/305240020/Pounding-rain-brings-100-year-flood-Jericho-twice-3-years?odyssey=mod|breaking|text|FRONTPAGE

  2. Holy Cow!

On another note, this weekend we will (among numerous other things) rough out our itinerary for our trip to Quebec and Ontario, with a loop through western New York. Miyoko has started putting money aside for the trip, but today brought a strong prospect of a consulting job for me that should pay for it and then some.

Local weather augury for this weekend is very good. Looking like a somewhat dry year, but farmers are adapting. There was an article in the newspaper about some farmers returning to dry land (i.e. unirrigated) agriculture. Permanent crops such as vines and orchards seem largely to have changed from flood irrigation to drip.

  3. Also much less cotton being planted; it is a very thirsty crop.

  4. Got this from my kiddle at three a.m., lol!

Antonio has returned safely from his high school prom. I have dropped his friend off at his home. Now I can go to sleep. I won't be getting up early.

    ~~ I'm guessing he won't be here before noon. . . .

    1. I don't know the specifics, but it was perty darned cold here last night. Remains chilly today and rain to boot.

Sis says she heard on this morning's news that it was snowing in New Hampshire. BRRR!

  6. Now you've got me wondering about bad weather in Ontario and Quebec during October; well, it certainly can happen:

P.S.: It seems I can swing a car rental in Canada for ten days with "frequent flier" miles from my business credit card. That would be a bit of all right...

  7. I really hope I can somehow get referred to a different psychiatrist somehow. This twerp keeps trying to prescribe me *antipsychotic* drugs, because, after all, he and the other medical muckety-mucks have determined that I must be bipolar. Then, when I share something I've read about one of these drugs, he covers his hears and goes "lalalala". I wish I was kidding. Said something like "I don't care if you're the king of academia.." Really? I don''t need to be THAT to know how to Google.

I'm REALLY uncomfortable with the approach of 'I want you to take this-and don't ask any questions or do any research of your own.'

    1. Who do you need to talk with about getting a new referral? If you can't get a new referral, what are your options?
