  2. Tuesday was a hard day for me; sorry I never made it here. After three weeks of successful chiropractic care, I woke up with the shoulder more painful than when we started. :-( Fortunately, I had a morning chiropractic appointment already, which was helpful. Nearly called out of work, even so. Came home and spent the evening cleaning house and moving small furniture (while Mah*Sweetie moved the big stuff. Just finished. The painter arrives at 8am to paint most of our ceilings. It's the first step in sprucing up. Gotta go snag some zzzz's!

  3. Get well soon, listener.

On an unrelated note, I saw a pickup with a Vermont license plate today; first Vermont license plate I have ever seen.

    1. Very cool! Was it plain green with letters/numbers, or was it an environmental plate sporting a Peregrine Falcon (our state bird)? I'm guessing it's a college student who got a truck to haul their own gear to and from their California campus. ;-)

  4. The painter is painting away.

I'm holed up with the kitties upstairs. It looks like it will be two 6 hour days or so, as he picks up his kids after school. Works for me, as I'm already ready for a nap!

  7. Today continues warm, though not quite as much so as yesterday. It is lovely to have the windows open.Eases the claustrophobia or something.

  8. Got almost to 90ยบ today. Last few springs have had exceptionally warm patches in April/May. Guess we need to adapt.

  9. Got back mid-afternoon yesterday. A very good trip, both enjoyable and with a sense of accomplishment.

Got into San Antonio about 10 pm Thursday. Found the hotel with no difficulty -- it's about a 10-minute walk from the train station. Friday I had lunch and a long conversation with my Texas cousins. I think I have mentioned that I hadn't seen either of them in more than 50 years. Things really got started Saturday with meetings and tours of the facilities we'll be using. Turns out the convention center wasn't as scooter-accessible as we'd been led to believe, but some adjustments look like they should reduce the problem.

This was also when I got news that led my roommate (a friend from Phoenix) to say, "Congratulations and condolences." The woman I expected to be working for got promoted to Deputy Division Head and I will actually be running accessibility services once the convention starts. Sunday there were meetings in the morning with the afternoon free. Then Monday morning, far too early, I was on the train back to Chicago.

The weather in San Antonio was perfect. Highs in the 70s, which is rather cool for April there. And you know what? The trees had leaves on them! But now back here with bare trees and highs in the 40s. Possibility that the rain may turn to snow later tonight.

  10. Cat ~~ I'm also very fond on the Lord Darcy series. In some ways I specially like the forensic sorcerer (whose name escapes me at the moment) that he works with.

  11. Well--two high-quality votes for the Lord Darcy series; guess I'll have to order it.

listener--it was a plain green license plate with white lettering; very sensible. It was on what looked to me like a very big and pretty new pickup truck.

Today I was stuck downtown over the lunch hour-and-a-half, so wandered around some of the old shopping district, that has a lot of Mexican businesses. What did I find but several types of Chelsea boots, and many in my width or even a bit wider! Mostly dress, some work boots. None quite my size, but the regular "American" shoe stores and equestrian shops hardly carry them at all, or if they do they are for men with very narrow feet. I think I would like a pair for the ankle support. I will be checking back at one store from time to time. to see if they get a slightly smaller size in. Now I know where to look.
