Just swooping by--VERY busy day today; the cops have been having a concentrated campaign against drunk and drugged drivers, and that means a lot of work for us, in addition to the strange delivery schedules due to the holidays on Tuesdays. Got Naomi's car fixed up at Maaco--good work as far as I can see, fast, and much less expensive than the other body shop I was able to get an estimate from on Monday. Now to go put a good review on the Web for them--they only have a couple of silly bad reviews posted.
Good for you for posting the good review, Alan! Take care with all that extra work. You are helping to keep the roads safer as well as keeping the system fair.
I neglected to alter the byline on today's front page when our party plans got squashed by the current snowstorm. But then, I was busy celebrating our 40th anniversary of engagement. :-)
Highly recommended: the movie New Year's Eve produced by Garry Marshall.
Downloaded and am enjoying Her Royal Spiness. Not sure it will prove to be Bill's cup of tea, but I'm getting a kick out of it. I keep expecting Georgie to run into Lord Peter Whimsey or Hercule Poirot. *grin* Mrs. Simpson has already had a cameo and I expect she'll have a bigger role. Queen Mary has asked Georgie to spy on her and the Prince of Wales at a house party, presumably hence the rather silly title. Meanwhile Georgie and her brother Binky, Duke of someplace in Scotland I can't begin to spell, are prime suspects in a murder investigation. Though Georgie has terrible problems - no money and no acceptable way to make any, a positively dreadful sister-in-law - the tone is breezy. Reminds me a bit of Georgette Heyer, though the parallels are not exact. Anyway, having a great time with it. Sis was pleased too, since it seems Amazon keeps recommending the series to her.
Having, to my surprise, a bit of time for reading, and having Her Royal Sypness to hand, I started reading that. I'm a bit more than a third of the way through. Sill no bodies, although I am assured there will be at least one. To this point it looks rather like a romance. And since I know the rules of the mystery-romance and I know from the review of Twelve Clues which suitor Georgie ends up with, I know who the murderer is even before I know who the victim is.
But snide comments about British upper-crust life in the 1930s keep it moderately interesting.
Incidentally, Binky is Duke of Glen Garry and Rannoch.
I'm about half way through, now. The body has turned up, and as expected it is the unpleasant chap that Georgie and Binky have a reason to want dead.
But I may be wrong about Tristam Hautbois being the murderer. I had him pegged as Georgie's alternate suitor, but it turns out that he already has an inamoratus. Still, might be. The review says somebody wants Georgie dead, and certain possibilities might give Twistam a motive.
All the way up to 35º ~~ little tiny bit of melting--making a very light fluffy snow more than a little sodden. Tomorrow night's low due to be -4º, brrrrrrrrrrr.
Zounds!

Check out the cast list. It's a meet-cute, feel-good movie that is definitely not run-of-the-mill. Enjoy!

After our lovely, sunny day yesterday, today is a bit bleak. In fact, think I'm seeing snow floating past the window.
