listener--glad to hear son and DIL are doing better post-IV etc. I can well understand the anxiety and need for reassurance.
Renee--good news about Linda, considering. Kinda puts things in perspective, it does.listener--glad to hear son and DIL are doing better post-IV etc. I can well understand the anxiety and need for reassurance.

Kudos to puddle for figuring out how to clearly post the syntax for links. Bill--I keep a sample handy in a file on my computer desktop to modify, cut and paste as needed.
I was reading about early voting in Florida and Ohio (oops--not to bed yet) just now and was reminded that it is estimated about half of California voters will vote absentee this year, although many will hand in their ballots at polling stations on election day. Half.
Son needs to do early voting due to being a poll worker. Early voting hours are Monday through Thursday, so it pretty much means he will be voting the day before the election. And whichever one of us drives him on Monday may as well vote at that time as well.
I'm understanding from my utilities spy that both phone and electric, though working, are dicey. Just patched, not really fixed for good. So if I disappear again, not to worry. Will add some more water to freezer to transfer to the fridge if needed. . . .
Still, so much better than others did in this storm.
Awful story about a mother in NJ whose SUV was flooded, carried her baby, with four year old in hand to nearest house, and asked for help. Was denied, as she started down the steps, four year old swept out of her hand, and a minute later, the baby. They found both bodies in a nearby marsh the next day. Hope the denier has nightmares forever. . . .
Appearance in Washington on Monday cancelled--prosecutor dropped the charges "in the interest of justice" when s/he read my opinion. Nice. Also restful--not having to dash off to WA after working a weekend. Temps around 80 degrees predicted here next week. About time to hit the sack; off to work in the early AM (not at 10:30 PM tonight).
The woman and child being turned away from the door reminds me of the line from the song:
"I went to a house and I asked for some bread; a lady come out, said "The baker is dead."
I am also reminded of a certain well-know family that could find no room in the inn...
Now to quickly pack my bag for the weekend, and hit the sack.
Dean! Zounds!
ReplyDeleteThis is what I have been thinking for some time now, put in context:
What It Will Take for Barack Obama to Become the Next FDR

And now to bed.

That got kind of garbled--I should have done a better job of proofreading. Oh, well.

How unutterably sad. Got link? I wish everyone had evacuated. :-(
DeleteBeen wanted to acknowledge what's been going on with others. Glad that Renee's cousin is home and doing better. And getting rehab to do better still.
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations to listener on the new grand-to-be. Stressful time for DIL, but turned out OK.
