Do you want to know how I KNOW that change has come to America? It's that not only did the adult children of my Republican best friend vote for Obama, but my best friend voted for Obama, and (wait for it) my best friend's husband also voted for Obama! And he is an elder in the evangelical Alliance Church in the Bible Belt...!
So here we were, planning a gentle day, and we thought we might even go looking at Christmas cards. An hour later Grandad was picking up VT*Grand so Eldest could work, as his wife is away at a conference...and VT*Grand had stayed home from school with a tummy ache. So I (Grammie) made a few atops on the way home from town (to pick up some photo enlargements then mail my sister's wedding photos (disks and enlargements) to her. Meanwhile Mah*Sweetie (Grandad) drove VT*Grand to our house while she barfed twice in his new car. (Mostly in a bag, to her credit.) At least she felt a lot better after barfing! I wonder how this story ends...!
If you need a change of pace, listener, you could very slowly do little [grin].
I have no problem with voting for a Republican or a conservative; but I do insist on some sense of honor, morality, fellowfeeling and intelligence. Certainly there have been a good many Republican Presidents who filled that bill, but where are the GOP candidates with those characteristics in the present day? I think that is the basic problem, and fixing it looks like it would take a very long time indeed. The Democratic tent is big enough to accommodate your friend and her family.
And now to bed, having knocked out that job I had been avoiding.
Alan, enjoy your day off!! It seems to me that the Canadians have it right in callIng it Remembrance Day. Otherwise it sounds like a holiday that, really, only Veterans should have off!

ReplyDeleteThank-you, Howard Dean, for putting us First.

Israel has now imprisoned him twice on the same offense: refusing to be part of Israel's Occupation force.
Mah*Sweetie has today off as a vacation day, and Monday off due to Veteran's Day!
ReplyDeleteWe plan to spend the time doing very little slowly. ;-)
Sounds nice :)
