Cats have their own priorities, and so do we--starting with Gov. Dean!
Off to Sandy Eggo in the AM; first time I am to be billeted at a pet hotel (that permits humans). [Hotel Indigo, Gaslamp District].
On eBay I scored an interesting slide rule for my small collection. [That's my share of what I am earning in San Diego, I figure.] One of the major old German makes [Faber Castell], construction and markings seem to indicate early 1950's manufacture [I will be able to ascertain the date when I get it--from Lima, Peru--from the serial number]. The particular basic design was very popular outside the U.S., and this has something quite unusual--a built-in addiator. That's a sort of very compact adding machine operated with a stylus:
Alan, you dog you, enjoy yourself. Adventures of all varieties are good, eh?
Made it rain yesterday, lol! Watered Cooter's garden. Just as I was finishing, the thunder started rolling. Made it home just in time. And finally, we got a somewhat decent rain instead of just a dust settler.
And I got my first harvest: two zucchini. Lots of tiny cukes (looks like they're gonna be picklers; and LOTS of pumpkins.
puddle...I've been watering the gardens all week, but we still haven't had more than a trace of rain. We again have a 60% chance tomorrow. I'll believe it when I see it. Yesterday our storms went both south of us and north of us! I thought of you!
Still in catch-up mode. Will just say that while Alaska -- Juneau and Skagway especially -- were cooler than I would have preferred, it was better than this stifling heat.
Glad to be back. Still hoping to catch up on the news.

I think it has to be hand watering to work: dipping into a bucket with a pitcher and carrying it to each plant. . . .
DeleteThe baby cats meet their new vet in the morning.
ReplyDeleteWish 'em luck!
