IN MARGARET'S GARDEN

...in loving memory of Margaret Connelly, 18 Jan. 1914 - 4 Dec. 2011

This painting was done several years ago, but I never showed it to Margaret because the flower hadn't come out just right, and I couldn't figure out what it needed. Last week when I picked it up again, I was surprised to recognise ~ based on all the adjusting of photos I've done in recent years ~ that what it needed was a little stronger contrast. So I increased the darks and lights in the flower, then signed it as 2011, since it took only a wee bit of work, and that's when Margaret died.

For those observing, a blessed Good Friday to you. +
For those observing Passover this week, grab your sandals, be swift, and a good Pesach to you!

  2. Reposting from the bottom of the last thread...

Blogs may have lifespans, but Dean Blogs are not merely blogs. Rather, they are communities, so more apt to continue on. I suppose it's analogous to the reality that we'll have many friends in life, but few that are truly closest friends. Dean blogs are the closest-friends blogs.

  4. This is about Monsanto vs. Vermont on GMO labeling bill; I was unaware of the petition for a similar law in California, but will do my part. (I regularly check in with the signature gatherers outside the local courthouse when I pass by.)

After my medical adventures in 2009 I didn't expect that any insurance company would sell me life insurance for a long time. But when we recently refinanced our home we were bombarded with life insurance offers and I decided to give it a try. I haven't yet seen the actual contract (it's in the mail), but evidently at least one company is offering me a good rate. Well, we'll see. I got a copy of the lab test results from my physical, and one of the interesting things is that they tested me for two drugs: nicotine and cocaine; no others. I suppose methamphetamine, heroin, etc. would interfere with holding down a job and would otherwise be obvious. The two drugs selected might be taken by someone apparently respectable holding down a white collar job, and could cause sudden unexpected death. Interesting. So if you have an insurance physical coming up, you better lay off the nose candy for at least three days [grin].

  5. Well, back on line. This was *my* issue -- forgot to pay the bill. By the time I opened the disconnect notice, it was a done deal. Had other things to deal with yesterday, so did a lot of computer clean up, and memory lane. Including, lol!, the Llama song, the Sloginator Memorial, and the Generation Dean ad. Time machine, all.

  10. Spent Good Friday making butterflies. Story to follow in a few days. ;-)

Had a Grand evening and have a Grands weekend coming up! Still making the last of the Easter gift for family, but so far so good.

I'll check in as I am able. Don't send Sheriff Chuck to Vermont. ;-)
