Showing Grammie how to use her new iPhone...

Yeah, she's 2 and she knows more about it than I do!

  1. Where's the Howard Dean App?

Thanks for the suggestions, Cat--I knew of "The Bat" and that it had been made into a movie two or three times, but wouldn't have guessed it was a rewrite of "The Circular Staircase." Will see if it and "The Window at the White Cat" are available on Project Gutenberg.

  2. Yep, they're there. Coauthor for The Bat is Avery Hopwood.

  4. LOL Listener. Out of the moths of babes and sucklings, eh?

    Thanks, Bill.

I was worried that you had had a spot of bother with nasty weather. Glad that isn't what kept you away.

  8. Well, in the less than twenty four hour window between having the culverts cleared, and the bridge ends ameliorated, and the next rain, I made it to town, did a good three weeks worth of grocery shopping for three living beings, dropped by the garage, got an assessment of the windshield wiper problem, got home, and the most temp sensitive (frozen)(eggs)(ground pork) food in. Raining now and will be for the next twenty four. Flood watch in effect till tomorrow morning. Culverts running at about 80% right now.

  10. Glad you made it there and back again!

So what's the wiper issue? Blown fuse? Is it resolved?

  11. :-)

Hmmm...it seems that the posts I send from my iPhone don't make it onto the blog.
I guess the Universe is telling me that tiny little screen *will* destroy my eyesight if I attempt to text.

  12. There's a plastic disc/cog that a doowidget fits into. Evidently it's too worn to keep the doowidget in place. Therefore, simply removing the dashboard and reinserting it into the disc/cog is not likely to be a good long term solution. The *solution* is the cannibalize the disc/cog of one of the dead Escorts on the lot, and using the organ donation, remove the dash, replace the cog, and then insert the doowidget. They're very busy just now, so Tuesday, the day after the rescheduled blood draw, is the day. They'll pick it up out of my driveway take it in, fix it, and return it. Love country life.

  14. This was just recommended by one of the guys as the A group. He's one of the brightest, kindest, most caring peeps I've known.

Think I'm going to be getting it. http://www.amazon.com/Most-Human-Talking-Computers-Teaches/dp/0385533063

There's a Kindle and Audible version, too.

Read the free excerpt on Amazon. Extremely well written. I've just recommended it to my book discussion group.

  16. Saw the other Deaniac in the county in town today. She was behind me in line and was buying $20 worth of pork and beans. I asked WHY? She said the Food Pantry was just given a $20 donation, and they *needed* it. They're serving three times as many people a month as in 2008. So my next donation goes there.
