listener--I must admit my old library is my OLD library card; I haven't used it in a very long time. As for the honor system, I think I would most likely modify it a bit, to check out an e-book, return it quickly, and save it until I had read it at my leisure before deleting it myself. For now I am still almost exclusively reading conventional books, and my tastes are probably rather less topical than most.
Good going, puddle--but use the medicine when you need it. Painless sleep is itself curative.
Having now dealt with that cripplingly tensed sartorius muscle, I have taken the decision to begin rebuilding the strength in my legs. Deep knee bends, in moderation, for now. When I cut back my hours at Salt Mine No. 2 this autumn I will go back to mowing the lawn; it wasn't much, but it did help to maintain my strength and flexibility in my legs. I naturally and reasonably gave it up during my medical adventures in 2009, and it sure does makes it life easier with the sort of hours I currently work. Things at Salt Mine No. 1 are easier now than they were the last two or three months of 2011. BTW, I got my consulting work all caught up today. Things were in better shape than I thought, but it feels good.
The online classes through the library sound like a good idea, listener. We are SO much less isolated than we were when I was young...
Well, so much for tonight's try, dang it. Did manage about a half hour. The rest, just tossing and turning and trying to get comfortable. Might partly under stand if I'd had any naps today, but nope, napless. Ah, well, try again tomorrow.
Been thinking about listener's meeting this morning, and holding her in the light. Hope it turned out to her liking.
Came down from mid morning nap, hooked the Goobey up, and he *refused* to go out (which is a new one on me, lol!) so unhooked him, and he's continuing *his* mid morning nap.
It went pretty well, all things considered. No one got angry, I stood my ground, and the coworker who has been my greatest thorn supported what I was saying...! The upshot is that we *can* shovel if we prefer, as long as it doesn't take too long, since there is so much else to do. Snowblowers are quicker, to be sure; but we do have recourse on the cold and windy days. Hurrah!
If it makes you feel any better, I always take an Aleve if I'm having trouble sleeping, because usually it's that I'm holding tension in my body, which causes just enough achiness to keep me awake. Once I sleep the tension goes away, too.
Incase it makes you feel any better... I always take an Aleve if I'm having trouble sleeping, because I have a tendency to hold tension in my body. Once I sleep, the tension leaves, too.
Alan, there's no need whatsoever to feel sheepish about being a "lapsed" library patron. We don't hold grudges about that. Just go over and let them make all things news! It's easy and we're happy to do it! :-)
I have a funny related story to share. At our Library we update cards every two years. So lately I've been writing out a lot of new cards, and the expiration date has changed from 12/31/2011 to 12/31/2013, so I've been writing "2013" a lot. Yesterday, at the health food store, I wrote my check with the date 22 Jan. 2013. The woman running the register pointed it out and asked me to change it. So I did. I promptly wrote 2011. LOL!

We got some REAL rain today, then it let up. Maybe a bit more tomorrow, then it is supposed to be sunny.
When I am aching a bit I will take a couple of acetaminophen tabs before hitting the sack. It works. Now for my new exercise regimen (repeat in morning)--three of those yoga sartorius muscle stretches (I'm pretty close to being able to do it like the demonstrator), followed by ten deep knee bends. Already giving me significant relief. Will modify as needed.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's all the better with Howard Dean, who is First!

It would almost be worth watching TV for the chance to see these...

ReplyDeleteTomorrow's another day. (Or should I say night?)

Three stretches each leg, that is.
