  1. Howard's it!!

Pretty bright and looking to be warm day going on here. Trip to town later. Swallowing is being good. Blessing!

  2. I'm beginning to get the sense that deer season isn't going to be fun, lol! Beau was out for four hours this morning barking at deer. *Joyously* barking at deer. The deer themselves are not impressed.

  3. Silly Beau! He is a very attentive dog, though!

Sooo glad to hear it's a good swallow day.
(Now I'm thinking about Tree Swallows and Barn Swallows! LOL!)

  4. Woke up with a sinus headache and feeling like I ate something I shouldn't have.
Better now, and have learned that my neighbour's tall tree may be taken down today.
It's very near our house so that could be interesting.
So I'll say it now before any machinery comes 'round:

The sunshine came softly through my window today.

  5. Hope that tree came down without mishap, listener. Watching it happen can be nerve wracking, though, lol!

I'll be heading to bed VERY early tonight, as I must rise at four, to leave by five to be there by seven. Anyone else hate tests that begin with putting a tube up your nose and down your throat?

  6. Can't say I've had to put up with that particular imposition. What I hate are tests that require you to fast. And the longer the fast the more I hate them.

  7. Well, this just nothing after midnight. Fairly standard.

  8. Night all. Early up (4ayEm). Kid's calling from the train up from Florida since he thinks he won't be sleeping, and my alarm clock's wonky. Wish me luck!

  10. Once down the throat, mostly from the opposite direction. In the immortal words of The Bard, there's small choice among rotten apples.

Saw some more of those big round plastic-wrapped cotton bales today; Googled

    round module cotton harvester

and found plenty of information (it's a John Deere harvester) and even YouTube videos and an animation showing how it works (in Spanish on YouTube) right away. Harvests, bales, continues picking and makes the next bale while carrying the formed and wrapped one to the end of the row, reduces loss and improves quality. Harvester runs a little faster than older pickers and is picking 90% of the time instead of 70%. Eliminates four pieces of equipment and their operators and saves fuel to boot. Must be the wave of the future.

  11. All good luck and blessings, puddle! Wish I'd seen this earlier. I knew tomorrow is the day and have been carrying your well being around with me all day, tucked up my sleeve.

I get to have a fasting test next week (the 16th) which starts at 1:50pm. I hope I can at least sleep late first. I'd rather have that than what you're about to have...and at the time of day you get to have it. But it's better than the alternative, so there it is.

I'm keeping your doctor in my prayers too, for good rest beforehand, a clear mind, and excellent skill.

  12. The tree still stands. Apparently the other trees (two houses down) took too much time. So it may be that we're woken up in the morning by a chain saw. Heh.

The way it is mostly done out here too:

The narrator's terminology is a bit off; fill wagon = boll buggy, cotton press = module maker, bale = module.

Here's how it used to be done, not so long ago:
