There ain't no storm, and there ain't no flood There ain't no war worth spilling blood Gonna hold me down, gonna break my stride 'Cause I got the love, and the light inside
Well the layoffs came and the homes foreclosed The stocks went down and the fuel costs rose But I got my smile and I got today And I got a heart that I won't betray
Well the winds may blow and the thunder roll But I got a fire pit in my soul The roots run deep, so when the journey's long Down in my heart I sing this song
There ain't no storm, and there ain't no flood There ain't no war worth spilling blood Gonna hold us down, gonna break our stride 'Cause we got the love, and the light inside...
Another beautiful moderate day. About five degrees warmer than yesterday. I'm beginning to get back on track (da boyz dun wore me out, lol!).
My kid is now talking about getting a well put in. I feel a bit sad about giving up my pioneer lady image, but I'm thinking he's right -- and he *is* going to inherit, so why not now?
Actually, the pyrotechnic show was quite safe. These were professionals, and they had the space cordoned off with orange "Danger" tape, and the first thing they did was explain the safety rules (basically that no one was allowed inside the cordoned off area. Also, the only 3 children at the wedding had gone to bed. It was fine.
The part that wasn't so safe was the fire lanterns that the bride and friends sent into the air after the performance. Usually they're fine, as they're made entirely biodegradable materials (mostly rice paper) and the fuel used burns cooler than most fuels, so they go up aways, and eventually run out of fuel and come down and degrade quickly after the next rainfall. The trouble was that they used the large size lanterns and there was a dead-air area they passed through after they got up aways. One came down pretty soon and landed atop a car in the restaurant parking lot! Fortunately the groom has three older brothers who are agile. The eldest got to the car about the same time the restaurant owner did. There had been a heavy dew so all the lantern did was evaporate the dew before it was swiftly knocked off the car by Eldest*Son. The car was carefully inspected and declared fine. Meanwhile two other lanterns came down on the far side of the field. One slid down the solar panels onto the grass and the other landed in some dry hay! Wildlife*Biologist*Son, freshly home from the Arctic, is also a runner and zipped across that field and quickly put out both fires. As for those who arranged for the fire lanterns (the Bride and Son*Who*Grows*Food), they used to be too young to know all that can happen. ;-)
Got up early this morning and went over to the Library to take part in a program! A local artist was on hand to discuss painting techniques. Everyone else did watercolour, but I grabbed my water-soluble oils and got about half a painting done, of the red barn near the Library.
Yesterday I went to the local art supply store to get some supplies for today, and while I was there the fire alarm went off!! It persisted, so outside we went. I got permission to bring my stuff out with me, and the show owner and I did the transaction on paper outside the building. I left with my goodies just as the fire trucks were arriving. Called over there today and learned that the alarm went off and on all day yesterday, and the shop folks haven't yet heard what the problem was. Another shop in the building reported smelling smoke, so we're all just glad the sprinklers didn't go off in the art supply store! Since the landlord hasn't updated them, I suggested they call the fire dept for their assessment.
I'm still exhausted from the weekend, and my followup policing. They're wonderful workers, but putting stuff back seems, for the most part to escape their consciousness, lol! So am slowly shaping the ship back up. And planning new stuff to do/finish before the next trip. Which includes wrasseling a pedestal sink from out among the front trees into the bathroom. After some serious derusting treatment.
Thanks! She is sooo sweet and cheerful, too! I love her to bits! What's more, she loves her Grammie tons, and runs headlong into my arms whenever she sees me. Ahhh, BLISS! ♡

I don't believe you did. Re previous post--pyrotechnic show at wedding? That sounds scary to me.

Well, well, well.
ReplyDeleteIf you get a well, then get a hankering to lug water, no one says you can't just take your bucket and go get some. :-)

Lol! Since everybody I know who has a well has lotsa problems with them, the backup bucket seems like an excellent idear. . . . .
