I'll be so glad when this election is over. I sent in my ballot early, but I'm getting slammed with both mail and email campaign stuff. For some reason I am getting lots of mail from the Republican party. I saved their Ohio Republican Party address so I can write and let them know how much I appreciate their taking the time to make sure I knew who NOT to vote for!
I wouldn't. I'd let 'em keep wasting their munny on me, lol! Just picked up my mail this afternoon, after a couple of weeks, and I think the *most* happy campers will be the mail peeps. . . .
Oh yeah. My mailbox was *stuffed* today! Haven't seen anything like it in...well...in forever. I would let them keep wasting their money on me (and I'm secretly gleeful that they have), but it makes my blood pressure go up. Very bad for the zen-ness I'm trying to achieve.
I get lots and lots of e-mail from candidates I've contributed to --probably 30 or 40 around the country. Not to mention Organizing for America and DFA. But I'vev only seen one snail mail piece. And nobody at the door because the Democratic combined campaigns are only targetting people who have missed at least one of the past three elections. And if the Republicans are doing anything at all in Oak Park, it would only target people who have voted in a Republican primary.
We were getting so many calls from the Vermont Democratic Party that we had to ask them (several times) to take us off their calling list. Got NO calls from them fr about three weeks (!), then got a call this afternoon and had to explain to the volunteer.
We also got a robocall today asking us to vote for the Republican dude for Governor. I hate robocalls because you can't reason with anybody.
I'm thinking of my Aunt Sr. Bede (who was a nun) and Aunt Evelyn (who lived to be 99.5), whose birthdays were at Halloween. They did not know each other but both of them dressed as witches each Hallowe'en! They both lived long lives and are in the glorious company of the Saints in Light.
My baby's birthday is today. He's 44. He never had a birthday cake without pumpkins on it, and we never got through a birthday dinner without the trickortreaters showing at the door.
Well, that explains why my computer didn't automagically update! LOL! That's weird because we heard it on the local television last night. They're going to get a lot of calls.
I was working in the same room as the phone bankers for the combined Democratic campaigns today, and it was obvious that a lot of the people they were reaching had had multiple calls. I'm moderately sure they weren't from us, but apparently a lot of groups, (DFA, SEIU, etc.) are conducting their own GOTV effort.
I don't mind robocalls, but I often don't pay much attention to them. I've gotten one robocall this time. It wasn't until a couple of weeks later that I realized it had been recorded by our Lt. Gov. candidate. I still couldn't tell you what she said.
Is anybody around? I have a photo I wouldn't mind posting briefly so you all can see it. But then I'd need to delete it. You'll see. Let me know when folks are around. :-)
It's Hallowe'en and the scary thing is it's almost election day again.
ReplyDeleteHoward Dean is definitely still first.
I agree completely.

Did I miss something? Isn't it actually 3:02pm EDT? How come the blog still thinks it's 4:02pm EST?
ReplyDeleteThis *is* the correct day for it, right?
Denise is in Salem, Massachusetts today! Talk about the right place on the right day! :)
