  2. Spring's slowed to a trickle again. But doesn't matter (for a while): I have 35 gallons stored on my porch, and 15 in the water keeper in the kitchen.

Went out and played in the river for a while. Rolled some rocks up onto the bank for later further rolling to the "construction" site. I never thought after Isobel that I'd ever want to play with rocks again. Who knew.

Beautiful day: 80ยบ. about 35% humidity. Sun. Life is good.

  4. listener, sorry for being cryptic about the link last thread. I promise, it *is* fabulous. More specifically, it is the Supremes singing with Bobby Darin the Rogers and Hart standard "Falling In Love With Love." Sis thinks it must be from Bobby's TV show. Enjoy!

  7. Wonder why the "new" computer won't read the clear hearts? It does the filled in ones just fine. Mysteries, lol!

I don't know if anyone heard about the 75-mph windstorm that hit the Chicago area Friday. About 5 minutes after my son has decided it was time to drive me to ducKon. None of the broken tree branches that came blying across the road caused us any problem. Nor did the downed telephone pole we drove past. The probelm was all the traffic lights that were out. Turned a 40-minute drive into a 2-hour drive. I just had time to grad my badge, without even checking into the hotel, and get to my panel 5 minutes late. Turned out not to matter, though, because pretty much the entire audience arrived 15 minutes late.

From then on things went pretty well. Aside from the occasional weirdness of trying to go to panels where the probram book listed no panelists. And sure enough, No Panelists was exactly who showed up. Apparently it was a metter of the people who did the program book not picking up on the program chair telling them that panels nobody had volunteered to do weren't going to happen.

  9. Bill, I'm so glad you and Mark were safe during your drive!!!

Err, how bright do you have to be to figure out that a panel without panelists probably isn't going to happen? Sheesh!

    Cat ~

Well, it's not THAT dumb. You can figure panelists may be added at the last minute. Or if what the program dhair said didn't really register, you can figure he/she just forgot to write down the names. Not checking hardly gets top marks for competence, but it's sort of almost half-way understandable.

  14. Hey. Just running by to say "howdy". Today has been an unusually work-filled day and I didn't get to my sewing machine as I wanted to. Still have a little handwork to get ready for my quilt group meeting tomorrow.

Bought a little purple sewing machine called "Pixie". Got it to teach my 9-yr.-old g'daughter how to sew. A little nervous about that 'cause she tends to be majorly flighty and I'm a little worried about her sewing right through her finger. She's trying to get her Girl Scout merit badge for sewing. Ay!

Had my little g'son all week last week. Thought he'd get homesick, but he didn't. In fact, when I took him home Friday he wanted to know if he could come back Saturday. He's so cute.

Happy Father's Day to all who are fathers, and to any and all who do a father's duties.

  16. Yeah I heard that windows in the Tower got blown out...though last I heard no one was injured by the flying glass. I know you folks have to keep up your reputation and all, but that's a bit excessive! So glad you got there okay!
