Here's the earlier part of Wednesday's thread. (If this doesn't work, go back to the Tulips Thread and read it that way. The luck o' the Irish be with you! ;)
We talked to another heating contractor today. He had a better suggestion for what to do if electricity goes out in winter. The first had basically said we should just go without heat, but as an alternative suggested insalling a $5000 natural gas-fired generator. This guy said go to Home Depot and get a portable generator for uner $1000. Put it in the garage and run an extension cord to the house at need. That's what he did when he was without electricity for three days because a tree fell in his alley. The portable generator will give us heat and light, although it won't run the refrigerator or the cook stove. But for the price difference, that's something we can put up with.
It's a good thing I sent the Ally update to puddle when I did, earlier today, because seconds later our power went out (on a sunny day!!).
I went into town to hear the poet David Young interviewed and it was a fabulous event, set at a beautiful building with panoramic views of Lake Champlain!
Yes, I brought my camera.
Then came home and had some granddaughter time!
Now I'm sitting here with a sore throat and slightly swollen glands. Hmmm.
listener! Please look after yourself. You are the most... Hmmm. I was going to say "accident prone" only that's not right. Sickness prone person! Please try to get rid of that sore throat and swollen glands.
As to the power going out on a sunny day: That happens here sometimes. Curiously, not a flicker during all that wind and rain over the weekend. When I talked to Patty, who lives the next town over, on Monday she said their power went out for a few hours. I am very thankful that ours didn't.

ReplyDeleteFlowers actually blooming? And indigo buntings and Phoebes? Spring is definitely here! Sixty-five degrees here today and sunny. YAY!
ReplyDeleteIt took forever to get today's blog post up at Arty. Damned computer kept crashing. But, it's worth all the agro to see listener's photo.
Puddle, the foreshadowing isn't too heavyhanded, is it?
Yikes! That's much more reasonable.
