Here's lookin' at you, Spring!

Awesome! The first American Robin of the season
arrived in my yard on the eve of the first day of Spring!

  1. Howard is first.

So is Spring, though I gather in many parts of the country it's coming in with a vengeance. I hope all our friends in the Mid West are OK.

Tired but content. It was a good day.

  2. Good morning--
The robins passed through Georgia a couple of weeks ago but didn't linger long. Red wing blackbirds are squabbling in the bamboo hedge at present. Some years they nest and raise a brood before heading north and doing it again in NH in June. That's why you have juveniles with barely red shoulder patches making lots of noise. I don't think they find a mate the first year, but they do help keep the females corralled, keeping them from flying far from their nesting site.

  3. Talked Mz Thankful from Ohio to New York. She's stopped for a wee nap. I may try soon.

  4. Thankful still clocks the mileage. That woman has driven so much I'll bet her mileage laid end to end might get her around the world a couple of times.

  5. It's been Spring since 1:26pm or so, and I hope folks are out enjoying it.
It's overcast here and about 50 degrees, though just a half hour south of us it's 68 degrees.
I went to work today and am going to go "have a lie down." as Cat says.

If you get talking with Thankful again, puddle, please tell her I'm thankful for her Ally candle(s)! ♡
Ally is probably just about getting home with her Daddy AND MOMMY right about now.
    Sweet! ♡

  11. Don't know what our high was today, but the window is still open as I write. It actually felt rather like Summer today, never mind Spring. Loverly!

Hang in there, Bill. Sending warm, sunshiny thoughts your way.♥

  12. VERY nice outside today--Miyoko gave me a haircut in the afternoon. Wish I could have helped her in the yard, but am making great progress with preparation for court in Anchorage--plowing through a bunch of depositions. Taking a little postprandial break at the moment. With a bit of luck I may get the major depos taken care of by midnight., other stuff reviewed tomorrow, then have a few days to organize a notebook [in my spare time [HA!]. But now that I am down to work on it the stress is melting away. Noticed the cherries are in bloom--together with the peaches. [Hmmmm....gotta get out and see how those grafts I made are doing..]

  13. Bill--FAIRBANKS has better weather than that at the moment]! OTOH, Chicago is downright toasty compared to Yellowknife.

Daughter*in_art*school has been needing a new computer--the Mac G3 she has had since high school was getting too slow for the heavy duty programs she has been using lately, but she was hesitant to ask for a new one before it was absolutely necessary. She planned to work in the school computer lab over Spring break, but on Wednesday discovered that it would be closed. We had to do some hustling, but got her a nice iMac, significantly fancier than she was thinking about at the Cal bookstore. On Monday she will cart over her old Mac and they will transfer the files, settings, etc for a reasonable fee, and in theory she should be good to go. I will take an external hard drive and extra RAM next time I go up. [Got them from Macconnection.com--let's hear it for Vermont! Believe it or not, we could have ordered it on Friday and had it delivered on Saturday for somewhat less than buying it here as a non student--but file transfer would have been do-it-yourself.] I have had nothing but good experiences with pcconnection.com and macconnection.com. And now back to the dungeon! The treadmill awaits!

OH, yes. It was spring earlier this week and will be again. But Chicago weather is a lot like what Twain said about New England: If you don't like the weather, just wait a few hours. It will be totally different.
